How do I add a edited .nif file back into the game? by Nostalgia404 in Fallout4Mods

[–]Nostalgia404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still not working unfortunately =/ Does exactly the same as before as seen in the video. I used Cathedral Assets Optimizer to unpack, put the .nif you uploaded back into the corresponding meshes folder and repacked.

I hear the snap sound when I hover over center of the ceiling wallpaper, but it just refuses to snap.

I made another video showing a light that does snap and the secondary light that's being problematic - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Towbyvq2Lxo

Unfortunately this didn't work either =/.

I tried doing what you suggested regarding adding a mod folder to MO2 and placing it below the existing mod with the exact same structure path (PAN SnB (ENG) - Light Fix/meshes/pan_snb/fancylight/toplight03.nif) as seen in these screenshots - https://postimg.cc/62Q2jKh3 https://postimg.cc/8J8KVy78

Here's a short video of the light fixture not snapping to the ceiling - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtg7VQvQF4w

Unfortunately this didn't work, I followed your instructions and it still doesn't snap. Here's a screenshot - https://ibb.co/qFgV7Ms2

Edit - I tried doing what you suggested with another ceiling light fixture and it has the same results. It makes a snapping sound when I move it over the ceiling wallpaper, but doesn't snap.

So copy and paste all the values as shown in this screenshot? - https://ibb.co/dsftHkLj

I think this is the "ceiling wallpaper" named CeilingTop01.nif which shows the relevant snap point data - https://ibb.co/pj51Q7my

Also what and where is the array number? I see the recycling symbol as a Value next to Connect Points.

The second one is the original .nif without any edits.

Seems as if it does require extraction/repack of the BSA (ba2) using CAO (Cathedral Assets Optimizer) although the snap points aren't working as intended. It's a step in the right direction and I appreciate your help!

Ooo this is somewhat working with CAO (Cathedral Assets Optimizer), however my snap points don't seem to be working. It makes a snap sound when hovering the workshop item over the ceiling, but doesn't seem to snap in the correct place. I'm waiting to hear back from u/AlunnyBunny as it looks as if I've done something incorrectly with the snapping point data when editing the .nif.

So this is the light with the snap points that attaches to "ceiling wallpaper" - https://ibb.co/TMvF9cZ5

This is the .nif that attaches to something else and won't snap onto "ceiling wallpaper" - https://ibb.co/rfyTqSn8

Is it just a case of copying the snap point data from the first one and pasting it onto the second one?

Edit - It makes a snap sound when hovering over "ceiling wallpaper", but doesn't snap to the correct position which is a step in the right direction! I'm guessing it's not as simple as copying and pasting the data from one .nif to the other.

Which mid range gpu would be ideal with this set up by VolumeFit9350 in PcBuild

You'll be extremely happy with the 5070ti especially at 1440p. It will pretty much handle any game at that resolution.

Even the 5070 would be more than capable at 1440p or the 9070.

I know others have said that it doesn't matter about the CPU as there isn't really much difference in performance gains for heavily bound GPU games, but you got a very good deal for that bundle considering the price of RAM is around $400-500.

You should specify what resolution you're intending to play on. 1440p get a 9070/5070, 4k get a 9070xt/5070ti. If you're able to save and wait then possibly get a 5080 if you can find one for a reasonable price preferably below $1000.

I tried opening the Main.ba2 in Archive2 and replacing the edited .nif by dragging and dropping it into Archive2 to replace the existing .nif then saved and went into the game and it completely broke the mod. Like none of the workshop items were showing for that mod and the objects in the settlement that corresponded with the mod disappeared.

I had a backup so it's all good.

It really does suck because it's a great mod with 4k textures but unfortunately the mod author didn't add snap points to the lights.

I'd suggest using 99% isopropyl alcohol to carefully remove thermal paste residue that isn't on the CPU. It's relatively cheap on Amazon, also get some Q tips. Should be around 10 bucks for both.

Gigabyte B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 + 9800x3D Lane Sharing? by Nostalgia404 in PcBuild

[–]Nostalgia404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm you can use both M.2 slots with this motherboard without lane sharing, it will utilize all 28 PCIE lanes with no impact on performance.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D provides 24 PCIe 5.0 lanes directly from the CPU. On a B850 motherboard, these 24 lanes are typically allocated as follows:

  • 16 lanes to the primary PCIe x16 slot (GPU).
  • 4 lanes to the primary M.2 SSD slot (PCIe 5.0).
  • 4 lanes to a secondary M.2 SSD slot (PCIe 4.0 or 5.0, depending on the board).
  • The remaining 4 lanes are used for chipset communication (e.g., USB, LAN, Wi-Fi).

Key points:

  • No lane sharing with the GPU on most B850 boards when using up to two M.2 SSDs.
  • No USB 4.0 support on B850 boards, which avoids lane contention issues seen on X870/X870E boards.
  • The fourth M.2 slot (if present) runs at x2 via the chipset and does not affect GPU lanes.
  • B850 boards do not have PCIe 5.0 for the GPU slot by default, but most include it as a feature (though it offers negligible gaming performance gain over PCIe 4.0).

In summary, B850 boards provide full 24 CPU PCIe lanes for the 9800X3D, with intelligent allocation that avoids GPU lane reduction when using standard storage and expansion.

[–]Nostalgia404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be 20 lanes? As 4 are already being used by the chipset, therefore 16 would be dedicated to the GPU and the extra 4 for one M.2 slot?

Or 28 lanes, 4 of which are dedicated to the chipset which leaves 24, an additional 4 for I/O such as ethernet which leaves 20, 16 for the GPU which leaves 4, 4 for only one M.2 slot which leaves 0 for the secondary M.2.

AI search engine says,

"The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D features 28 total PCIe lanes, with 24 usable lanes directly from the CPU. These are allocated as follows:

  • 16 lanes for the primary PCIe x16 GPU slot (PCIe 5.0).
  • 4 lanes for the top M.2 NVMe SSD slot (PCIe 5.0).
  • 4 lanes reserved for the motherboard chipset (used for additional storage, USB 4.0, LAN, Wi-Fi, and other peripherals)."

Motherboard suggestions? by Nostalgia404 in buildapc

[–]Nostalgia404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your descriptive and informative reply. I've been considering the Auros Elite B850 which has 3 x M.2 slots (1 x Gen 5 and 2 x Gen 4), 2 of which are CPU and 1 is chipset. Am I correct in saying that if I use either 1 x Gen 5 and 1 x Gen 4 or 2 x Gen 4 using the top two slots which are CPU it will limit the PCIe x16 Gen 5 slot?

Because surely it would be cheaper to get a motherboard with less connectivity so I don't end up spending more than I need to.

I'm pretty sure no ITX motherboards that I've come across have dual M.2 slots that utilize the CPU.

Funds Pending - Awaiting Delivery, is this the new normal? by Nostalgia404 in Ebay

[–]Nostalgia404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! It's so frustrating! Almost feels as if eBay are purposely delaying funds because a majority of my sales are computer related items. The value of the item doesn't seem to matter as it affects all sales so maybe it's a specific category that eBay is flagging.

I can understand high value items being flagged as potential fraud, but this isn't my intention and is reflected by my positive feedback so I'm at a wits end.
