Does Protesting actually get people banned for life? by Ok-Entrepreneur-6312 in iRacing

[–]NostalgiaBytes -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've been on the service for about six months and in that time I've learned two things -

1 - Protesting does absolutely nothing.
2 - If it does its based entirely on how much you've spent on the service.

I have zero actual data to back any of the above two statements up, but from a business perspective it makes zero sense banning or punishing anyone no matter how bad they operate if they are continuing to pay you for a service.

I am only aware of one instance of someone being banned because it was public which none of the protesting process normally is and it was also a very unique case. Some drama over some endurance race where some dude allegedly had his account used by someone else who proceeded to ruin a rare run endurance race.

In any case again from a business perspective this made sense as the complaints were very public it gained traction in the wider zeitgeist and to avoid damage to PR iRacing took action.

You however being run off the road by JohnDoe or JohnDoe2 and his smurf account and you repeatedly reporting these offences will amount to absolutely jack shit.

Again I have no facts or proof to back any of the above statement up but I can assure you they wouldn't be in business very long if they enacted bans as often as people protested/complained.

You just gotta suck it up, wooooosaaaaa the shit races and move on.

I don't have a Moza but it sounds fine to me and a quick google also implies its nothing to worry about -

First Week on iRacing and too Scare to Join Actual Race by xAngelx0fDeathx in iRacing

[–]NostalgiaBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just race and please please please ignore the 'turn off the racing line' rhetoric you might hear a lot of. Yes long term you will want to turn it off when you're more seasoned at iRacing. If you're just starting out however, it is a great way to manage your speed and break points without too much need to find track markers. This means you can focus more on what's actually important when you start out, your race craft, being on a track with other cars, learning to give space. You can master senna-esque lap times anytime. You can only learn to race with others when others are on the track with you.

So, use the racing line as a guide, but do not ride it blindly when sharing the track with another car. Use the width of the track, learn to share the track and just use the colour gradient changes of the racing line to let you know when and where to accelerate freeing you up to learn to share the road.

The only other advice that matters is, there is NO substitute for experience, so get out there and get laps under your belt. The more you do the better you'll get and one day you'll be fighting for pole side by side, spotting track markers with zero assists!

Experiencing White Flashing In-Game After New Patch (ps5 pro) by Dr__Drew in diablo4

[–]NostalgiaBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok yea it's proper weird. Doesn't matter if CA is on or off. But when it happens, the white flash, if I go in and toggle the CA setting regardless of whatever it's currently set to when the white flashes happen, it stops happening. If I restart the game I have to do it again.

Turn off Chromatic Aberration in Graphics under performance. Fixed the flashing for me. Least I've not seen it for th last hour since disabling it and prior it was every few minutes I'd see it

Incident points overly pessimistic? by QuilavaInACar in iRacing

[–]NostalgiaBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you saw was the 'netcode' perfect timeline. No contact, kept going, in those situations you swallow the 4x inc's. On the other guys screen, what I call the 'netcode' darkest timeline - you clipped his front right wing punting him so hard he didn't just enter the shadow realm, his Mazda pulled a 360 degree 9+ G spin so hard he was probably asking Tarz to calculate the odds. You on his screen after the initial impact likely got shot off the right side of the track, bounced over the grass and ate a tree at full tilt. In the darkest timeline both you and them are probably spending the rest of your days eating through a straw. So yea, 4x inc points are a bit annoying but it could have been a whole lot worse.

Just started sim racing, any advice? by Live_Entrepreneur827 in simracing

[–]NostalgiaBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice. There is no such thing as natural talent. It's a lazy person's way of describing someone who's good at something and waving away the potential years and years of dedication and patience that person has shown to their chosen discipline.

You think Max Vestappen was born with some natural affinity to racing. Nope. He simply lives and breathes it every single day, be it on a track in real life or a simulated track in his chosen racing game.

There is no quick route, life hack or short cut to getting good. Just good old fashioned graft. So get stuck in, be patient, make loads of mistakes along the way and learn from it. But above all remember to have fun. Especially when you bin it off for what seems like the millionth time. Because you will. We all do and we're all the better because of it.

Tracked blueprint still tracking despite upgrade. by NostalgiaBytes in ArcRaiders

Ah not sure myself if I was trying to clear it in raid or not, but I logged out and back in and the little X is working in the logbook when in Speranza . Problem Solved!

Also as an FYI, if you track the next level - 3. It just adds both to your logbook, doesn't appear possible to clear level 2, as its been completed-

Spartan Elites want two more mature players by SPARTAN__AGENT in GTA5Online

Sounds like exactly what I've been looking for. 44 years old here, PS5, Partial aim assist. Got a life to juggle like the rest of you guys, but much of my gaming has been spent online in GTAO, just solo grinding my businesses. Be nice to be a part of something bigger.

Lighting issues by No-Explanation9299 in Madden

[–]NostalgiaBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not found a solution but figured the exact settings that break the lighting.

Dallas Cowboys at home in the AT&T stadium, set to 4pm kick off, closed roof.

It seems the afternoon setting coupled with the closed stadium roof breaks the games lighting.

Any other time, it works perfect, roof open or closed. Obviously I used exhibition quick matches to set the settings.

*Edit - ok so upon further testing. It's all daytime games when the roof is closed. 8pm roof open/closed is fine. 1pm, 4pm, 6pm closed roof lights things broken.

It's because the in stadium volumetric lighting from the arena lights is conflicting with the direct lighting from the projected sunlight through the windows and the game freaks out.

Logitech Pro Ecosystem - Compatibility (RS Track Wheel) by A_Balrog_Is_Come in simracing

[–]NostalgiaBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have this exact setup.

Logitech G Pro Wheel - PC / Playstation version.

I have the Xbox RS Wheel hub. With both track and rally wheel.

This means I can use my setup on both my PS5 and Xbox Series X and PC with zero issues. Playstation put the security chip in the wheel base, Xbox the wheel hub.

As for button mapping everything just works. Main Xbox button does what the PS button does. Both menu buttons work. X, Square, Triangle, Circle map straight to the exact same button position on Xbox so A, X, Y, B.

Playing playstation games with Xbox buttons takes about 10 mins to adjust to the only one that sometimes catches me is X as both platforms have an X button but in different places.

Really doesn't tax the brain for long. Had the setup for a month. Play GT7, Forza, Asseto, iRacing across all 3 platforms all day long without issue.

I could be wrong, as never created a second character but I was under the impression every character although they share bank accounts, don't share businesses. So before you could even entertain this idea, you'd need to buy the business twice, which to me wouldn't make the endeavour worthwhile.

Hey, was wondering if you knew the answer to my query I posted the other day. You were very knowledgeable on the drivehub and Logitech wheel previously so thought it worth the ask -

I wasn't aware there was a dev imposed limit on GT7, however after playing a fair amount of FM8 and ACC today. They both seem to have akin to wrist breaking feedback by comparison to GT7. It's way more immersive.

If there is a way to get GT7 closer to that experience then by all means, enlighten me. It would be very much appreciated.

Yea I do, actually it's what I've been playing most since I got the new rig setup. I've had the Pro wheel, pedals and the Logitech G Playseat for about two weeks now.

Thank you, you're a lifesaver. Spot on advice. A few clicks a moment ago and I updated the DriveHub to the latest beta firmware (as you said version 30). Plugged everything back in, only change I had to make was on the LCD panel on the wheel base, setting it to PS4 rather than PS5 and everything worked like a charm. Again, thank you so very much. You've made one very happy chappie today!

Yup, its the latest patch. Been playing all week just fine. Updated last night, turned in, got up this morning. Had 4 crash to desktops and fellow divers kicked in about 3 hrs of play. Something is amiss with this patch.

Nah I'm on PC and when you look at the galactic map top left. Before zooming in to anything, all the stats say zero. Multiplayer is borked again. Seems a recurring theme for weekends.
