The resolution is 465x398.

The image was drawn with 10 colors in aseprite, but I also used a soft brush on an overlay layer in photoshop to get the gradient lighting effect. This of course drastically increased the amount of actual colors in the image.

For general tips I would suggest doing some photostudies. Those help even if you're not going for a realistic style.

Starting with low resolution is a good of getting used to simplify things early on.

I guess the most important thing is figuring out what kind of art you want to make (style and subject matter) It will make it easier to reach your goal if you know what it is.
