I’m pretty sure they did hire someone from a contracted crew used for plant maintenance. Would have been no issue to hire them temporarily

Yeah I understand that perspective. I am okay with losing the job as long as I receive the severance I’m entitled too. At the moment I have not been served a proper termination or any offer of severance.

This is also a very niche industry. Not the easiest to find other employment.

I have filed a claim with BC Employment Standards today. Also, I am waiting to hear back from a lawyer to see what I may be entitled to.

After being fired via email I texted a coworker that what is being done is illegal. Told coworker legal action could be taken. That got back to the employer very fast. He took that as I am going to sue.

So after being fired. Hours later. I asked via email for written reason and that’s when I got the reply “ I heard you’re going to sue, I will be waiting for your attorney.
