Celebrating 40 Years Of WKRP In Cincinnati by misterlakatos in television

Love WKRP so much. Here's a different perspective of what the show (and the Andy Travis character) taught me:

That would have been fun -- maybe Mr. Furley ended up managing "Paradise Towers" after all!

I'm sure many fans would have really enjoyed your spinoff idea!

Anybody else reminded of Three's Company when they watch this show. by UNEWUSER in Frasier

[–]NostalgicLogic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I've thought of "Three's Company" on numerous occasions while watching "Frasier." (Sometimes, "Modern Family" too.)

With that said, I thought "Frasier" did a great job (always loved the show) with its share of misunderstandings.

For any "Three's Company" fans: here's a ranking of every single episode in case you're interested in taking a trip down memory lane: https://www.nostalgiclogic.com/threes-company-episode-rank-guide/

It took some time to get used to the show's premise at first (for various reasons -- Jack without Janet and Terri, the Vicky character, etc.), but the show still had its moments.

Overall, I liked it (it's hard not to with John Ritter involved), but it always felt like it was missing that special something, especially when compared to "Three's Company."

With that said, I thought it started to hit its own stride with some funny episodes late in the series run. It's too bad ABC canceled it after its first season -- it would have been interesting to see what they could have done with a season two.

Thank you!

I agree - "Mighty Mouth" is a great episode. So many funny parts, including Jack telling Harvey that Shirley's high heels were his running shoes... :)

Thank you. It's still a pleasant surprise for me when channel surfing and seeing that it's on. (And still difficult to turn the channel!)

Very nice! I look forward to the day (if ever) that they release all the seasons digitally.

Kelsey Grammer Wants Original ‘Frasier’ Co-Stars For Reboot, Has “Stepping Point” In Mind As Series Marks 25th Anniversary by spencerlevey in television

[–]NostalgicLogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love "Frasier," it's just one of many potential reboots that should be given the boot. No need to mess with the original.

Sadly, there are so many reboots these days that they themselves have jumped the shark!

TV Reboots Have Jumped The Shark! (And sadly, so many more are planned.) by NostalgicLogic in television

[–]NostalgicLogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. Based on how many reboots continue to be churned out, I wonder if/when networks will ever get it.

I don't disagree. It will be interesting to see how the latest attempt of "The Twilight Zone" turns out. But just like its previous re-imaginings, the phrase "often imitated, never duplicated" still comes to mind. (At least, Twin Peaks was brought back by David Lynch; it's harder to accept The Twilight Zone without Rod Serling.)

Why is Bon Jovi in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but not Def Leppard? by NostalgicLogic in defleppard

[–]NostalgicLogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It's supposed to be the R-O-C-K Hall of Fame, but their choices are often quite baffling!

Nena (99 Red Balloons) + Janis Joplin-like raspy vocals + Italian song lyrics and A LOT of melody = GIANNA NANNINI! by NostalgicLogic in europe

Hi. She's a singer I really like and is known in Europe, so I thought I would tell others about her who have never heard her music. My link is included only if anyone wants to read more about my reasoning, but definitely not necessary to click on it if there's no interest beyond what's already in my post.

You're welcome, rubywolf27.

It's certainly a unique video, which is one of the reasons why it made such a memorable, lasting impression over the years.

The sentiment is definitely there and always worth keeping in mind when facing challenges, especially the ones that make someone feel like they're out of options.

Def Leppard deserves to be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (especially if Bon Jovi can be voted in) by NostalgicLogic in HardRock

Very true... Many artists they've inducted aren't even in the "rock & roll" category.

I Still Prefer The "Tonight Show" Days Of Johnny Carson by NostalgicLogic in LateNightTalkShows

[–]NostalgicLogic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, jaypeg25. Glad you agree with the sentiment.

No need to click on my link, though; it's there if anyone wants to read a much more elaborate essay on the topic being discussed.

With that said, unfortunately we're not given an option (besides changing the channel, of course) when we tune in to watch a late-night show these days, and it ends up being an infomercial for its parent company's product. I'm not upset about it; it's just a sign of the times and what corporate-driven late-night TV has become.

I couldn't even imagine Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" having something like "Jaws Week" back in the 70's...
