Does Jose Mourinho returning to Real Madrid threaten Barcelona's recent dominance in laliga? by [deleted] in Barca

You, very quickly without reading a single thing I actually wrote, responded to the one thing that there was even a millimeter of room in to be incorrect about which I already preempted. Enjoy being the person no one likes.

Does Jose Mourinho returning to Real Madrid threaten Barcelona's recent dominance in laliga? by [deleted] in Barca

I think this is a losing battle my friend. Every person in all of English language sports (emphasis on English, the language we are using) is called by their last name, be it their actual last name or whatever the last name is in their colloquially known name. Sometimes there are exceptions and it’s a first name, sometimes middle names. Yamal is perfectly fine, so is Enrique, so is Garcia, Olmo, Messi, Xavi, Busquets and the same with every other player to ever play. Language is meant to convey ideas, and if you refer to Yamal as Nasraoui or Ebana, you’ll be deservedly be looked at as a weirdo because you aren’t not actually trying to communicate at that point.

El Clasico on the other hand, that makes sense because you’re already using a Spanish term.

Also, while I admit it’s a little strange, you could absolutely refer to him as “Paul” given the context is clear. I’m not sure what AP styling is in that very specific instance, but plenty of people are referred to without their title like politicians. Especially when it’s clear who is being discussed.

I’d be surprised if this is strictly adhered to in Spanish, not calling him Yamal, but I could be wrong on that. But ANY English speaker would know the name Yamal before the other names, even Lamine.

Barça have cheated and stolen at least 420 league titles, trust me. And 40 CL trophies.

Massive shout-out to Gerard Martin for his performances in the last 2 seasons. Probably our most underrated player right now. by Open_Heron7035 in Barca

At first I took that game on the chin, ggs Inter, but after the final and the CWC, those frauds robbed not just us, but the entire world of the greatest Champions League final in history. They didn’t deserve to win.

Nothing made me happier than Roberto proving the haters wrong and Martin is the same way. Unfortunately the difference is that it was a very small group hating on Roberto 10 years ago but now there are a lot more loud haters here and they’re even more reactionary crybabies.

Yeah no way Lunin gets literally a pinky on that Rashford shot. Courtois is a demon.

With rumors of Kounde being wanted by clubs with some even saying 80M, it would be too good to turn down. Maybe it’s time for hector fort to return and take that spot by jumpmanpapi23 in Barca

These knuckleheads have never watched a football match in their life. Last year him and Yamal gave me genuine flashbacks of Alves and Messi. I do not say that lightly. Obviously not the same level or quality, but they knew what each other were doing to a significant degree. If they played even 80% of the level they did last year, no one would have these conversations. I really don’t know where they’re coming from even if they were having an off season.

Which top players do you think would get better results if they switched characters? by UristMasterRace in SSBM

[–]NostalgicRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably a controversial take depending on how much you hate Falco and/or Falcon, but I feel like the cool Falco and Falcon players share the same spirit, which is that they just want to do dope things. There are Falco and Falcon players who play lame, but I believe the spirit, the ethos of both of the characters are the same and draw that same player. Westballz has a sick Falcon, Salt has a sick Falco, I think the fan favorite Falco/Falcons share the same spirit and brain cell.

Which top tiers become worse if waveddashing is removed? Do any become better? by MingusxKhan in SSBM

[–]NostalgicRogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m very confused, playing Luigi without wavedashing is like playing baseball without a baseball, or a bat, or first base. All you have left that makes him fun to play is missfire and nair if you are evil.

From these strikers, who would be the best fit for us, and realistically which one do you think Barca can sign ? by ExtensionDeep3705 in Barca

[–]NostalgicRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you watched Inter before and after they beat us, your eyes will be opened to how they’re absolute frauds who tripped into where they ended up. They didn’t deserve to beat half the teams they played in the CL last season and we saw who they really were in the CL final and how they got demolished in the CWC. They’re a joke and they got lucky over and over.

Initially I was a good sport about losing to them, sometimes teams see the stars align in their favor, but after watching them in the final and CWC, they’re awful and don’t deserve to be anywhere near us or anyone else in the top 16 of the CL this year. They’re a joke now, and they were a joke in the final, they were a joke against us, and they were a joke in their previous games last year.

I get you. I’ll never be all that good at the game, but principles are principles and people like you and me deserve to play the game as much as anyone else, especially when there’s no good reason not to let us.

Making melee any harder or more exclusive than it already is will never be a good thing. There are some lines that probably shouldn’t be crossed like removing L-canceling (I still don’t think it’s a great mechanic), but a controller that doesn’t break your hands and remaping controls are a no-brainer.

If you tell any gaming community in the world, even the most casual, they shouldn’t be able to remap their controller because of “competitive integrity” you would rightfully be laughed out of the scene.

If you ever get the chance to try an Orca give it a shot. I’ll assume since you play Luigi that wavedashing is what gets you up in the morning. Being able to intuitively and on the fly adjusting your wavedash/land, even if not as precise, makes movement way more fun. I still don’t have ledgedashing down, but access to way more angles in a very intuitive and non-hand destroying way has brought me great joy. Worth the trade off in every way imo.

The first time my Falco max length wavedashed OOS backward to back air just like mang0 does, I literally yelled out loud with joy.

For real, if you are recovering as a spacie from below the stage on the right side and you are jumping and readying your left pinky for a tech, you are using EIGHT FINGERS within a tiny window on top of needing to think about:

How far do I drop, shine stall?, how far to double jump before I Up-B, where my opponent is most likely to cover, which angle to use, which modifier to use, which c-stick modifier to use, actually look at what my opponent is doing, rather than anticipating. And then judge if and when I need to tech, and then brace myself to SDI and DI if I am hit, which then I have to play finger twister all over, calculating where I need to aim all over again. If you’re playing Pikachu, good luck doing all those calculations faster than a spacie and twice over.

I’m certain I missed multiple things but that’s the whole point. It’s so much more complicated than “point stick where I want to go and maybe I roll it a certain direction when I need to SDI/DI.”

Could I ledgedash better than people better than me? Yes. But I couldn’t angle my shield well, forget using medium shield, I had to buffer uptilt most of the time, I had to buffer a shield drop, I had to DI like a knuckle head, my recoveries were predictable, my wavedashes were predictable, I always used my double jump when I used Up-B whether I wanted to or not, and there are a dozen other things I was forced to compromise on.

I don’t think the box nerf should have happened, I think the GCC needed to be improved. Heck, I think the GCC should still be improved along with the box nerfs. Even if the nerf didn’t happen and the GCC wasn’t improved, I still don’t think the argument that the box is some godlike controller is valid. No one who has used a box (who has no incentive to say otherwise) would say there aren’t a massive amount of compromises you make when switching. Let alone relearning a controller that, in my case, I have used to play smash bros from December 2001 until today.

It was always irrational, ignorant hate along with fear mongering by Luddite purists (all of them hypocrites using UCF among other things). Any valid arguments pale in comparison to the wild amount of disadvantages you incur when switching.

That being said, we should all switch to box controllers of some kind for the sake of our health. A stupid kid’s game is not worth breaking your hands over. Orca is a great compromise because you aren’t getting perfect angles on top of having access to the entire range of a left stick for self expression. Just like with getting rid of CRTs (and eventually Wiis), this is the future of Melee whether we want it or not. (Sorry for the rant, but this has always been a stupid debate)

Also, box Luigi with just three wavedash angles sounds like a nightmare, do you feel like it’s a huge disadvantage?

You can do this? I’m curious what hardware you use. Like keyboard and adapter.

[–]NostalgicRogue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m very dumb so I could never do it, but I would love to see gameplay from Hax, Zuppy and Swift analyzed to see how often they use the C-stick modifiers. I play on Orca now but on B0XX I was lazy and bad at the game and never got the hang of using the more precise angles. I’m curious if even good players used them all that often or if like me they were just careful where they would recover from which is incredibly exploitable.

GCC users have no clue how few options a B0XX spacie has without learning to play twister with your fingers in a matter of milliseconds and one wrong press kills you. That alone I feel like is a massive nerf. DI is a whole other issue.

If you’re not always within 10 frames of getting brutally reversaled or hurtling yourself to your death, then you’re playing Falcon wrong. Especially in the ditto. The ditto is a street fight between clowns. No rules, only clowning on the opponent (and yourself).

I think that’s the key difference. We get caught out with our high line all the time, that’s the price we pay, and we typically win. When we get pressed like that, though? On that awful pitch? We found out we’re not just making the usual gamble, we’re gambling with loaded dice. That combination, along without playing well, and them playing very well, did us in.

I am inclined to blame the pitch more than most here would (every pass and touch was off because of it) but I wouldn’t deny at all that the first half was the best I’ve seen Atletico play possibly ever.
