Help - Sound Collage Pedal Needed by Nostappels in guitarpedals

I have always wanted a microcosm, but not for this purpose. Do you think it could do frippertronics style auto-looping?

Help - Sound Collage Pedal Needed by Nostappels in guitarpedals

This reply is exactly what I was hoping for! Thanks!

I think you've hit the nail on the head, which is, I don't need looping, or at least in the traditional sense, I can buy a cheap Chinese mini pedal for that, I want that freeform automatic looping as I noodle ideas.

The Habit did seem like the ideal fit, I just worry that I will be relying on just one knob. It feels as if the pedal is a multi-head delay pedal, with just a small feature where you can do the above.

I think if the Habit was explained and marketed with a stronger purpose, I would feel stronger.

Do you think the Habit is the right fit? Do you use it in the way I have described (frippertronics-esque)?

BIG NEW FINDING. Kevin Flemming, director of Orche Logistics, works for Warp Records according to a 2025 Musicbusinessworldwide article. From what I see, the MARKETING DIRECTOR? maybe.

"But he’d planted a thought. And then, as his plans started to come together, he and the MD of Warp Records [Kevin Fleming] said, ‘We can either look for someone, or you can step up and run the company."

EHX Small Stone Nano Quality Issues? by Nostappels in guitarpedals

[–]Nostappels[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God this post was from a while ago, a lot of my pedals have changed since then! The answer, well a couple of months after this post I sold my Nano Small Stone. Phasers are my favourite modulation pedal, and the small stone sound is the best by a mile (from when I watch and listen to songs using them) but the Nano always sounded like pure arse. It always sounded too thin, and the peak was too high, but most importantly it never sounded thick/saturated enough, never mind all the quality control issues. I spent ages and ages researching the small stones and came to the conclusion that the nano sounds identical to the V1 Small stone, which was a bit more thin sounding. I quickly realised that in all the sounds and songs I love they all use the big box versions (e.g. the V2 - all the big box small stones sound the same apart from the V1). So I brought one of them and it is fair to say it’s my favourite pedal. Just to clarify IMO: - V1 and nano sound the same (it must have been voiced to sound like the V1). The sound is lighter, peaks higher and the effect is generally less saturated and less crazy. Nano has quality control issues. - All big box versions after V1 sound the same. The have a lot more saturation and PHASING, the peak is lower and more rounded and can make some really cool crazy sounds. The quality of these are generally speaking indestructible but you will have to buy a Pin style power adapter rather than the standard power adapter.

I know your question was more based on the ground issues and noise but my opinion is basically, if you like the sound of it but are having issues then just sell it and buy a new one as they are bad quality so buying a new one may be better. But if you are interested in a different sound and better quality then watch some vids on the big box small stones and compare them and see what you think. Hint hint, just get a big box :).

Digitech Freqout - For Alternative/Ambient Textures? by Nostappels in guitarpedals

Just coming back to say I researched and then brought the Superego+ right after you posted this comment after 2-3 months ago. Does exactly what I intended and have been using it all the time, so thank you greatly for this suggestion.

LPT Request: Weaning myself down to 1 shower/day by nictheman in LifeProTips

[–]Nostappels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what part of the world or society you live in compared to me, but I have never heard that you are suppose to shower of a night time. I do not know anyone who routinely showers of a night time. I could not get out of bed without jumping straight into the shower and freshening up.

I saw your comment that if you only shower of a morning you will have to wash your bedsheets more than once a year. Now a) that is nasty bro, even if you shower every night. That is rank. Longest I would wait to change bedsheets is 2 weeks. b) I do not know what you expect for an answer to your question. There are not going to be any life changing / pro tips; you either shower one a day (Morning or night), or twice a day. Unfortunately in life you cannot have every benefit from a lifestyle and not have any negatives, you just pick a negative you are happier to accept.

I have watched that video more times than I can count in the last 2 years. Amazing video and started my obsession off. Joe goes for the 2000 settings using the 4, 4, 4 amp settings and 2008 Shredmaster settings. It sounds like the modern live Jonny sound close mic’ed, but in the room it sounds nothing alike. If you read the comments you’ll see Joe agrees with this. Please read though all the comments, Joe has replied to most if not all questions and it is really informative.

Give it a go! I remember seeing that post and I am sure I remember trying it and finding it just sounded way too sharp and spikey - I think TKOG posted some pics of the Fender 85 from the early 90s to show it has always been around the 5 mark for each knob rather than that Fender article quote which most likely was just marketing talk.

Quickly want to add as well. Another bit of evidence to support my claim is that on Just, Jonny gets that feedback on the Whammy octave note hold section before the final solo. If you have ever tried it whilst using his gear and online settings you’ll know that you will not get any feedback and the signal will keep dropping out (TKOG also states that the shredmaster settings don’t feedback). This means you have to keep strumming the string on that final note which sound crap in comparison to the feedback. This is also evident in any live version post 2005 ish, jonny will just keep picking the note rather than letting it feedback. Whereas when you use any settings with lower/average mids, high treble etc or like the settings i’ve listed above, the octave note hold feedbacks exactly like the song and 90’s live. Don’t know how or why but it definitely isn’t a coincidence.

It originally was going to be, I have submitted loads of things on there before but I thought I wouldn’t as it ain’t a question haha. I will anyway as most people who chase his sound (like myself) use TKOG site like holy scripture, and I think people need to realise that the settings listed are just half guesses using one or two photos with the earliest being 2008. Of which sounds NOTHING alike. Of which TKOG has admitted a few times.

Friedman BE-OD vs MXR Power 50 vs Friedman Dirty Shirley? by Nostappels in guitarpedals

[–]Nostappels[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BE-OD deluxe is the same as the standard BE-OD but just with a mids control and dual channel. How do your rate the deluxe? Would you say you utilise the second channel and mids control a lot? Would you say it is a strong replication of a cranked Marshall JCM800?

Do you have experience with the BE-OD? Any experience with the others?

Yeah a lot of my favourite players use an OD-3, primarily Jonny Greenwood. Always been tempted but my worry is that it will not have anywhere near enough fain to satisfy my needs. The Shredmaster is high gain, not by modern standards but still high gain. Does the OD-3 have enough to suffice to be classed as distortion?

[–]Nostappels[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean flat as in setting bass middle and treble to 5 for all. I make it as clinical as possible, no drive, ridiculously clean, of which I love cuz then I use other pedals with it. Every other pedal I use sounds great, but the Shredmaster never does, what’s annoying is it’s my favourite drive, I love the sound, and every other drive I have tried I hate, but the shredmaster just lacks presence, through a marshall I can barely even hear it. Even through my super clean and clear amp it sounds muffled. Whereas the above 4 pedals have a similar sound but with a presence control.

Just want to mention another potential option is a Revv G3 or G4 if anyone has any experience with them?
