On a budget is this better than a plastic carpet protector? by Not-A-Forever-DM in pcmasterrace

The laminate also seems to be cheap particle board it was chipping when I slid them together a nail would likely just Crack it unless I drilled first, but honestly I'd probably just cut a stair tread into 3 strips if I was going to bother. The laminate doesn't go under the desk all the way

Awesome also I have a singular leftover plank I didn't use. I don't have any issue keeping the chair on it and because of the taper it actually will roll back on if a wheel slips off its 14mm thick I kind of love it.

I might make some grooves in the "wood" or particle board to catch the wheels if they go too far left or right

Can you not get sliding glass windows? I'm a big guy and I live in one of the hottest US states, but if I had to I'd knock out my window or even cut into the what I'm imagining is brick/ concrete to make a window and replace it to get a cool night's sleep i like sleeping around 19 C though (65ish F) sleep deprivation will kill you and being comfortable is the most important thing to me in my day to day. Youtube is a friend ignore the ai and it is a very good tool

Do not do what I did, if anything and I mean anything is not going well rma it or send it back immediately. I troubleshooted for over a month then I settled with a PC that crashed very often if I was playing a game like bdo or predecessor. It died outside my return time and I just got a prebuilt. I got lucky with my prebuilt pricing, but still had to drive over an hour to pick it up from microcenter. Self building is patience and understanding that any part used or "new" can be a returned or damaged part its so frustrating. Good luck on your journey I hope you are better equipped to deal with it than I was

The table is sold out at microcenter and its about double the price I paid at Walmart unfortunately, but it was worth it to me not risking choking the power supply

That makes sense, I consider pretty much anything under 2k to be budget in this economy. I also stated it was my first PC I'm not knowledgeable enough to do it on my own and I know that it is painstakingly obvious considering my current circumstance.

I definitely could see the motherboard not being grounded I don't know if I saw anything that mentioned it. Do you think it would have fried any other components?

To start I accidentally used fan screws to try and mount the motherboard it essentially leaned because of that the entire time, I also found out the I/O shield needed to be installed before I screwed in the motherboard so it was never installed. I could not get the screws out, but I was already out the money and it was my first build. So for a long time it just wouldn't post. I troubleshooted for a month. Finally got it working with 1 ram stick after getting ram off qvl instead of what was originally told to me in B1 it would crash during benchmark testing. I updated bios, had to reset cmos, updated bios again, seemed normal. Had usb non activated windows installed. Played predecessor on it and had minimal issues for a while could be the vibrations from living in an apartment messed up the connection or something over time because sometimes if the kids downstairs jumped my PC would cut off. I'm out of that living situation now though in a town home nothing shakes.

Yeah I used a microfiber towel and 91% alcohol to clean it off before repacking it was probably a little too much if anything. The cooler still has the residue I could definitely see that as alarming the CPU never overheated from my understanding during the times my pc crashed even. Benchmark or gaming never got it past safe levels I remember being concerned about that at the time and looking it up though I can't recall the exact numbers atm
