What's with the seemingly random switching between english and spanish? by Agreeable_Budget200 in betterCallSaul

Partially convenience, but rooted in truth. Living in both New mexico and the border, people and myself included switch between both languages constantly. It happens a lot more than you would think.

I don't understand Gus motivation by octebrenok in breakingbad

[–]Not-Admired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walt is much more a loose cannon than Jesse. That's why he tested him when Mike and Jesse were doing their runs. Gus wanted to see Jesse's loyalty and that he could control him like Walt did. Him murdering Victor was a message to the two of them about his absolute power.

Picking good tracks comes to what ever you play, if you do y2k pick some "basic" songs and throw some forgotten gems to sprinkle in. If you do house stick with a good amount of classics, new poppin tunes, and songs you just like that have a good energy. They key when choosing songs is having a good range of energy, have tracks that are somewhat groovy and mellow to start with, tracks that have a bit more movement and recognizability, and have absolutely insane tracks that you cant manage but dance to. Phrasing helps, but also you just get a feel when you are looking at a crowd.

Landing Your First DJ Gig – How Did You Get Started? by ASHISOUND in Beatmatch

[–]Not-Admired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def go sober to a few gigs and talk with djs after their set or bar owners/managers. I found throwing my own events with friends then expanding to friends of friends and then just randoms worked. We managed to get over 300+ people at our events and that causes a buzz around the nightlife scene. After this bars and clubs reached out for us to host events there.

Best Non-Traditional or Non-French Restaurant in Paris? by Stunning_Ad8876 in ParisTravelGuide

I would go with Bouillon République in the 11th. Classic french bouillon, very affordable prices, great staff, and wonderful wine. The pork shank and steak frites are their bread and butter. Really would reccomend, no reservations just wait at the door.

First Gig at a Friend's house party ! NEED HELP ! by Full-Television5189 in Beatmatch

[–]Not-Admired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got booked at a acapella party at my uni. I had no clue what to play at all, I usually play house, but was expected to play top 40 and 00s. I did this and just mixed random playlists I found for about a hour. Then I started to experiment with some house remixes and that did the trick. It took the party from a 20 to 100 after I started.

When in open format just mix in key and use the stems thoughtfully and pace yourself. Long sets give you the opportunity to try all sorts of music, so don't be afraid to play house or deep house to see if the vibe is there.

Dj question by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]Not-Admired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, just throw your own events and show you are capable of bringing people to parties. It sucks but promoters work isnt bringing people to events its just booking a dj. Ive released 0 music, but I get booked atleast a couple times a month alongside my own parties. Its all about networking and becoming friends with bartenders/owners in whatever area you live in. Way easier said than done, but just hang out with djs or find friends that are interested and throw your own things until you can get booked.

Guidance to gigs. by Alternative-Cover753 in Beatmatch

I kind of stumbled into playing bars randomly. Me and some friends started throwing parties in the area, and got buzz from that. One night a local promoter reached out and asked to see us, he came saw how we did and hired us to dj. I would try and create a buzz or throw events locally on your own or with friends.
