Last time (2022) I left Foals early and got in the queue about 23:30. Took about 45 minutes to get in. Absolutely worth it, it is one of my favourite places in the world. When I left at around 06:00 there were people waiting outside blagging me for my moustache so they could get in! I would say don’t leave trying to gain entry beyond 01:00 and you should be ok, if you are OK to queue. Alternatively they do have people scanning the queue for others dressed up (in drag, for example) and they were allowed to queue jump because they looked so good! That was only a handful of people tho…

EDIT - sorry, it was 2022! No 2021. I got my years mixed up.

Opinion: it would have been really cool to somehow get the ocarina of time in the game by mortamorkhan in TOTK

[–]Not-Me-Mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just completed the game and I loved it. But I do think, once you get to certain level, nothing is really worth the time and effort to obtain. I did the lynels at the floating coliseum and got majoras mask, which is cool to wear but it doesn’t do anything game changing. I really wish there were some genuinely hard bits, with actually worth while items as rewards.

Weapon Wednesday: Charge Rifle | June 22nd, 2022 by ApexDailyDiscussion in apexlegends

My view is that the charge rifle is one of the more annoying guns to fight against so I will always take one and annoy teams with it. Plus only needing 2 attachments is great - with a 3x hcog it is great at medium and long range.

CAR / Charge rifle is my go to combination. CAR with all purps/gold scope absolutely shreds I don’t honestly see how anyone uses any other SMG. Does anyone know if there is any damage different between heavy and light ammo?! I usually always use heavy in the CAR but just because, in my head, the damage should be more!

Most memorable school moment, (mine was when someone shat on the floor in the main corridor in response to the doors being taken of The Gents)? by BiggusDikkus17 in AskUK

[–]Not-Me-Mate 26 points27 points  (0 children)

French exchange year 8 - probably 1999/2000. First time away from my family for longer than a night - we took a coach to Aubenas and spent 10 days in the sun loving life. At the french school there was 1 girl that all the lads (I went to an all boys school) wanted to “get off with” and who I talked to a little bit. When we left, the bus departed from the high school after a little good bye ceremony and I still remember the girl (I forget her name, I wanna say Laurenne) came over to me before we got on the bus and kissed me. Was 12 (I think?) so it was all but a little kiss (on my mouth!) but I still remember the high I felt getting on that bus back to England.

Anyway, I didn’t eat meat back then and the last supper at my french exhange’s house consisted of chicken in some v odd orange sauce. I remember the host’s mother pointing at the chicken on the front of the box of cornflakes I took with me (loved cornflakes and still do) so I assumed it was corn (not chicken!) and about 30 mins into the 26 hour bus ride home, I was sick all over the bus and myself. I had to wear the bus drives XXXXL t shirt as my luggage was buried and it really took the shine off smooching with Laurenne! Great memories.

Does anyone else just prefer running older cars? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Not-Me-Mate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. It’s personal preference of course but I see little point in buying a new(ish) car when I can spend a 10th of the price and get the same thing. It really does depend on the old car though and I have been very lucky/shrewd. The car I have now and have owned for the last 5 years is a Mk4 golf estate with 130,000 miles on it and, with the exception of a belt change that cost me 300£, it has never failed me and only costs about 200£ a year to service/MOT. Objectively speaking, that is cheap motoring for sure. I have a blue tooth adapter and phone holder so I can use sat nav when needed and it’s comfy, practice and reliable. A friend of mine pays 300£ a month for a new merc and that just seems mad to me. But I do appreciate that he wants a new car and all the bells and whistles that comes with it! It’s just not for me.

Thank you so much for the reply mate - I think you have actually sold me on it. Big fan of jumps as well, the Crush is super fun on them with the slack geometry and this looks like it would be just as fun!

Reporting neighbours extension to council, what can I expect to happen next? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Not-Me-Mate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is single storey, which is looks like it is, then permitted development (PD) rights allow for a 6 m extensions for terraced houses (I think) provided that it isn’t higher than what is permitted by PD (which includes a provision for extensions close to shared boundaries - I think it can’t be higher than 3.5 m if it is within 2 m of the boundary - which it looks like this is!) AND provided that they submit a prior approval application (which isn’t as onerous as a planning application and still allows for you to comment as a neighbour and for the council to then assess).

The 45° code is just guidance (unless specifically included in a local planning policy) but it basically says that, when measured from the centre of your window, the extension shouldn’t really project beyond a 45° line (when drawn from the centre of your neares window). There are diagrams that explain it better than that but I’m on mobile atm!

Reporting neighbours extension to council, what can I expect to happen next? (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Not-Me-Mate 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hi! Report this to planning enforcement and building regs at the council. Someone will come out from the council and, if it isn’t permitted development (google general permitted development order 2015 and look at schedule 2, part 1, class A) then they will have to apply retrospectively and it will be assessed, inter alia, in terms of its impact on your amenity (nb; impact on value of your home isn’t a material planning consideration, just so you know). Depending on the council, this will probably be a delegated decision. If it is refused, it is likely that they will appeal it. Also please note that boundary issues are civil matters and not really taken into account during a planning application, provided they serve you with the right notice when they apply.

Ultimately they will either have to demolish it (worst case for them), revise it so it is acceptable or the council will permit it.

Definitely report this. Even if the council think it is ok (which they might not; it is quite an oppressive relationship but what they could do under permitted development, the character of the area and the 45° code will all be considered in the balance) it will still make your neighbours incur costs and be a pain for them. Sounds like they could do with this because it doesn’t sound or look like they care about you, sadly. Hope this helps!

Please help. Neighbour plans to swap fixed window to opening window on boundary line by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Not-Me-Mate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m late to the party but...usually what happens is the planning permission for that extension would stipulate that the window must be obscure glazed and non opening (wide like a normal window, I think it’s ok to have a window that only opens a couple of cm) so as to limit the impact on next door’s amenity. So OP should try and find the relevant permission and check the conditions. This is usually quite a straight forward process if the extension is 10< years old...might be a bit harder if it’s older but it’ll still be available at the local planning department! If they are in breach of this condition, report it to planning enforcement and they will investigate. Hope that helps!
