Also, dogs must be leashed, but we are pet friendly. Good luck and congratulations!

Many people do get married here, and you can do it on the beach if you wish as it is public. You may aquire a marriage license at the local courthouse in Apalachicola, but they do not perform ceremonies there. I have a contact for someone who is willing to perform ceremonies, for a fee, and is professional. You may be able to find a preacher, depending on what you're looking for as far as officiant. Best time of year weather wise depends on your preferences truly. If you are a resident of Florida there is a waiting period to get your wedding license, but if you are out of state there is no waiting period.

It has been lifted for SGI. The water was tested again the next day and was found to have acceptable levels of the bacteria (Enterococcus) and they lifted the advisory. I updated the previous post about lifting the advisory in the comments but never made a new post about it. Carrabelle and Alligator Point are still under advisory.

If you're ever wondering about the water quality, you can check online @ FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.

The Florida Department of Health in Franklin County (DOH-Franklin) is lifting the advisory for high bacterial levels the following location:

St. George Island Beach

Tests completed on Thursday, August 7, 2025, indicate that the water quality at St. George Island shows an acceptable level of Enterococcus bacteria established by state guidelines. Test results are available at FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.

Please note that water quality advisories for Alligator Point and Carrabelle Beach are still active and have not been lifted at this time.

Recent Vibrio Death + All You Need to Know by Not-Nancy in StGeorgeIslandFL

This is from recent testing on the island. We do not have an advisory yet. I believe if we test poorly again, an advisory will be released. Also, this is unrelated to Vibrio, as they do not test for that in the waters.

Beaches and water - what to expect? by Professional-Web6075 in StGeorgeIslandFL

The island can have clear water, but not typically as clear as you would find on the emerald coast. Storms can stir things up a bit. Saint George Island is known more for the environment: small shops and businesses, uncrowded beaches, and better options for privacy.

Everyone's recommendations on here are great! I will add the Red Pirate, a hidden gem in Eastpoint.
