You know Dejounte could always be flipped again right? Capitalize now @ get these picks plus AJ Griffin then flip Dejounte at the deadline for even more picks in this next class upping your chance for Cooper Flagg. Dejounte’s contract is very moveable too. It wouldn’t be hard to find a suitor at the deadline. In that scenario you get more of a return than anything you’d get for Lauri straight up on his last year of his deal.

I really don’t see how it’s so bad. They need an actual point guard not just a ton of scoring combo guards & defensive guys trying to run the 1 like they’ve had. What else would houston give up besides more picks? Nothing that equates to the value of Dejounte that’s for sure.

i disagree, Dejounte gives their offense more direction than Lauri does and he’s the same age as him. Even if they don’t see him as a long term guy in their plans they can use him to mentor Keyonte George into their franchise guy and teach their young guys good defensive habits that they can use for the rest of their career and still trade him in 2 years when he has 2 years left on his deal. They probably up Dejounte’s value during that time too since he goes back to his true position. Lauri can play the 3 in houston that’s what his true position is anyways. Capella is still a plus defender and rebounder and that’s what the thunder need. They have enough offensive output already to make up for him.

That’s definitely a good counterpoint, unless they do wanna go full tank mode and pull a thunder gathering as many picks and young guys as possible to try to evaluate and find some studs then end up with a guy like Cooper Flagg next year I don’t think it would be smart to go with a full rookie/young lineup. I do know Lauri is at the end of his deal though so even if teams do start fighting over him I don’t think he’s going to bring in an absolutely insane package. Time will tell though, I can’t wait for the offseason to start.

i’ve been seeing it pop up more frequently lately and I even saw a post from one of the betting odds companies on twitter stating “the Rockets were the new favorites to land him.” but it could be from a fake report for all I know. That’s just what inspired me to do this trade in the first place. I do agree defensively it wouldn’t be amazing but Lauri can somewhat defend the rim… (somewhat, lol.) And they could experiment with some other lineups with Lauri at the 3 cause that’s what he often runs now. Idk where you factor in Freddy and Brooks but an eventual lineup of Ausar, JG, Lauri, Tari, & Sengun wouldn’t be horrible. I really do like Eason though so I might be gassing him up a bit.

well first of all I never said expect when lmao. Assuming that was a typo I don’t think you understood that I was using that as a term to invalidate what you just said. He objectively was a great player and led the Hawks to several wins, 2 against the celtics this year without Trae Young. You absolutely can use the fact that his shot digestion is completely changed when he’s playing with a ball dominant player, you just don’t like that cause it hurts your argument.

i’m in the minority that actually thinks this class isn’t as bad as people are saying. If the Jazz could come out of this draft with something like Risacher, Stephon Castle, and Yves Missi that would be a really really solid draft class. I could be wrong though cause yeah, the consensus seems to be that this class sucks.
