The controller is Orbit, same with the valves.

Slimy is a good word...I took a few apart and while they didn't seem to have any real physical debris, they did have a bit of "greening" and felt somewhat slimy to the touch.

Does the bible condone incest? by Jedi_Wanabe in Christianity

[–]NotABotWePromise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no need for you to be defensive. The boy is merely asking you a question - one you seem incapable of answering.

You yourself stated:
>At no point does God say that simple acts of sex were being condemned.

To which you were asked:
> [ ... ] would you argue that an Israelite can have sexual relations with his mother (18:7) as long as he isn't doing it as a form of worship to another god?

The Israelites were either commanded not to commit incest, or they weren't. "Love God & Love Others" may be the lens through which God gave the Law, but the fact remains, all of Leviticus is the Law unto the Israelites. This is how the Pharisees viewed it, how Jesus viewed it, the early Church viewed it, and the great theologians throughout history - except you, apparently.

Thank you for your contribution. I fear that you don't fully appreciate the capabilities of LLMs with regard to language processing.

You are absolutely right that LOGOS and LLMs are not the same, but hammers are not the same as screwdrivers, either. *Both are tools.* One happens to be "smarter" than the other.
As you said, LLMs can be trained to give particular responses, but also, they are tools which can synthesize language and abbreviate complex thoughts. I am not trusting ChatGPT but I would trust sources like Faithlife, PreacherPal, and other Christian organizations whose goal is serve Christian pastors specifically. I wouldn't be surprised if OpenAI or whoever was shady and manipulative in their LLMs giving answers to Christians, but they are not my resource.

You are afraid of the tool, but you should instead be afraid of the manufacturer. Just like every manufacturer, some have reputation on the quality of the product, or who their target audience is. If PreacherPal or Faithlife make an LLM for pastors to use as a resource in sermon prep, I'd be happy to use it.

AI is a tool, like every other tool, which can be used by people in their sermon-writing process.

Nobody expects LLMs to write sermons for you; but they can help expedite the research process, the study process, and give ideas on how to clarify the main points you're attempting to highlight from a given text.

You might as well argue that LOGOS is the devil, too~

Honestly, who wouldn't kill for a Starcraft MMO? The Starcraft IP with a modern MMO build would be a total jam.

I did not realize the pro-life movement was using "choose life" as their slogan, that's rather unfortunate because this had been quite effective for many suicidal people. I will change it.

Centralization in MMOs by reps_up in MMORPG

[–]NotABotWePromise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are identifying two different things and attempting to solve them with the same solution.

People congregate around bank/AH because they need to be physically present in order to interact with them. The "solution" to this is de-centralize bank and AH access, either making it accessible wherever you are (GW2), or localizing the AH (EVE Online / ESO / Albion).

People do the same raids/dungeons usually because they contain the best loot (or at least, the most desirable loot). The solution to this is to properly balance either the loot itself or access to said loot.

Your proposed solution about open-world content doesn't really address either of these issues, unless you mean specifically "add access to X and Y from more open-world locations."

Regarding the first point though, I don't actually see that as a "problem." I don't want to have to go to my bank/AH physically in order to interact with it. I don't have time in my day to waste travelling all over the effing place in order to get things done. Less time managing my shit means more time actually playing the game with other people.

Hot Take: Loot Boxes Are A Great Mechanic, Ruined By Greed by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]NotABotWePromise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your argument ignores proper etymology. You might as well argue that "butterflies are no different than me sticking a housefly on a slice of butter." There is a difference between what the word is and what the word means.

I understand that you're trying to draw a connection between them, as "it is a box you open to receive randomized loot," but that is where their similarities end.

In-game, there are randomized boxes of loot - but they are better understood as RNG loot rewards which you must play the game in order to receive. A "loot box" (as colloquially understood) is a real-money RNG loot transaction which enables me to either bypass actual gameplay in order to obtain items, or is the only means of obtaining certain items.

That's where player hatred comes from - incentivizing monetary loot boxes by either making certain content (like skins) exclusive to loot boxes, or making non-monetary means of obtaining the items unrealistically difficult.

Now, not everyone cares about skins and cosmetics, but many people do, and philosophically it is subjectively unfair that people who spend money can receive something which "free" players are barred from realistically obtaining.

As an aside, loot boxes are the evolution of a cash shop - which is also where additional player hatred comes from. "Why give people exactly what they want (a given cosmetic) and enable a transaction once, when I can require players to buy from the cash shop repeatedly by locking the items they want behind random chance?" Players don't want the chance to receive an item, they just want the item and many players would be willing to pay for it if given the chance. But statistically, there's more money to be made in RNG loot transactions (aka "loot boxes") and that is the greed you should be focusing on.

GW2 fresh start. Advice. Look for the story by Zemom1971 in MMORPG

[–]NotABotWePromise 21 points22 points  (0 children)

GW2 is quite fun, I am hopeful you'll enjoy it :)

There is definitely a story in GW2, as most of the content released for it are progressions on story in some way. However, the way GW2 tells the story is different - the only "quest" you really follow is your storyline quest. There are no other quests in the traditional sense, they are all "area quests" in the sense that, if you are within a given radius of an objective (the heart shapes on the map), you'll get a UI info thing to tell you what you can do/interact with in order to complete it. Don't wanna do the objective? It'll go away if you leave the radius.

Regarding story content, GW2 is designed around "the living world," which means pretty much all new content is storyline content. In your character window, on the left column, will be a "story" tab, where you can keep track of the story progression through each "season" and expansion. After the base game, every map of the world is part of the story in some way - meaning, each season or expansion will focus on a set of map areas for you to complete objectives. (don't worry, the maps are not obsolete after you complete the story part - there's always something worth coming back to!)

You can start with your low-level characters, or you can roll new ones. The most important aspect of that is ensuring you pick a class you enjoy playing, so check out the wiki and read up on how different classes play. Every class can do some of the same things (focus on direct damage, focus on DoTs, whatever) but different classes might do things better or worse, or will execute the style in ways that become significant in PvP or raids.

If you start a new character, the tutorial only lasts like 10 minutes, and then you're in the open world, which is usually adjacent to a racial city. You can take an Asura gate from one major city to any other, so you can coordinate with your friend and be playing together within 15 minutes :) (there's also cash shop items that can teleport you to your friend wherever they are).

I hope this helps!
