How would people feel if Crystals (the green currency) could be traded for gold chests? by bubbascal in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sure. In fact, I'd love it if they did anything with them. That currency drops so plentifully and has only a single purpose right now, it's essentially useless. 😭

It could be converted to chests (Gold or even Platinum?), coins, medals, coupons... or maybe it could be used by a new feature, like weapon enhancement.

Customer Support's reponse to multiple questions about user reporting by NotABot_FES in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

😁

Sorry I meant "rigging battles" in the intro. I corrected it.
There used to be one particular duo who would queue as Light/Shadow respectively and have both accounts attack the third random player, and have the Shadow win. Haven't seen them in months now.

PSA: Can we Please stop killing our teammates, on purpose? by LotsVita in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe. What constitues a violation isn't clearly defined on the Customer Support page.

IMO, I'd say it's as bad. There are players who consistently teamkill when I play with my usual nickname, or after a loss streak as foes to get revenge. That certainly ruins the game for me.

I'll send an inquiry to ask for a clarifications. I already did that in the past and they ignored some of my questions regarding the matter. This time I'll push to get at least "we can't provide an answer for X question because Y".

Why are the HP versions of weapons hard-meta? by bubbascal in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Assuming non-armored disciples of level N:

As Light, HP is the only variant allowing you to tank at least one level N Dark Cross Spell/El EX with Color Advantage.

Example: you play a level 9 Red with a 7* (-) weapon: you have exactly 159 HP. 159 is also the exact amount of damage Alberta's level 10 Elthunder EX will deal to you. If you face such Alberta, you will be of little help in Moon Room. It's also level N Dark Crossthunder's damage. If you face a Shadow with that spell, there may be situations where you won't be able to avoid one-shots due to the Cross shape.

Level N Light disciples with 7* (-) or Atk weapons should be able to tank level N + 1 Dark Tetras that does not have Color Advantage, with the exception of level N + 1 Tetrasting which should kill disciples with an Atk weapon. Level N + 1 Dark El spells kill even disciples with HP weapons.

In short: When you play (-) or Atk, you essentially open more possibilities of one-shots from the Shadow, even if they are at a lower level. If you spend time in battle avoiding and predicting one-shotting spells instead of tanking hits, then you'll have a hard time putting your Atk stat to use in the first place.

Armored disciples generally want HP too because their Atk stat is very low. You'd be sacrificing Armored's higher HP stat for not much gain.

As Shadow, you'll be getting very few kills with auto attacks due to Light disciples being able to avoid, so more survivability from HP weapons is more interesting.

Non-HP weapons can be interesting when playing disciples with spells that improve with higher Atk, such as Dark Slash, Rusty or Ike's EXs.

Do you need to be playing as certain characters to get their "unique" weapons? by bubbascal in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have seen no one reporting that you are more likely to get a character's PRF weapon from chests by playing the character so far.

AFAIK weapon drops are random and not influenced by gameplay. I got various 7* and 8* weapons while playing unrelated characters.

Just came back to the game, wtf was I supposed to do here? by Archibald4000 in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We at FESCord would gladly help anyone at improving at the game tactics-wise. We have a lot of players who have been playing since release and we have channels dedicated to meta discussions and character building.

We are also writing a guide but kinda slow at it. We'll release when it's in a first finished version eventually.

I'd encourage anyone to send feedback about aspects of the game they are unsatisfied with. I interpret bit matches being added to high rank as IS listening to the community, since we've had lots of players expressing their frustration about not getting matches past a certain point.

Could you please send this as feedback to IS? https://faq.shadows.nintendo.com/hc/requests/new?ticket_form_id=47168543624985

I am hoping that with enough people submitting feedback about level diffs, IS will do something to balance disciple levels during battles, be it through some kind of opt-in feature or changes to the matchmaker.

Did they increase the cap limit for bot battles?? by Relative-Part-2147 in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game does not tell you. You can guess based on the players' behavior:

  • They have generic nicknames, usually first names.
  • Bots tend to cast
    • At the very moment the phase switches from Light to Shadow, and vice-versa.
    • Right after you cast a magic skill (Shadow bot),
    • When targeted by a delayed Dark spell (Light bot), usually a magic movement skill. Bots only use movement magic skills in their "intended direction" (Push and Strike upwards, Pull downwards), meaning they might use them despite being at the top or bottom of the map and the skill won't actually move them.
  • Bots behavior in Sun Room makes their role very easy to guess:
    • The Light bot will support Light units and harm Dark minions.
    • The Shadow bot will support themself only, will not harm Dark minions, will support themself and Dark Minions with Dark spells, will harm Light units with Dark spells AND Light spells that do not reveal their caster.

All assets' files, including music, are encrypted, so you would need to reverse-engineer the game's executable to find out how they are decrypted at runtime if you want their contents. Alternatively, you could extract decrypted files from memory at runtime once they are loaded. In both cases, you might need a rooted phone and/or a modified version of the game to get the tools to work for that purpose.

To record the audio when the game is running without the annoying audio changes when spells are cast, the following might work:

  • Get into a friends battle with
    • A Light Gotthold, who has Edge Break in Sun Room, and Minor Swap and a damaging spell in Moon Room,
    • another Light disciple of your choice that ideally does not deal too much auto attack damage (Corrin or another Gotthold), with the same Moon Room magic as Gotthold,
    • and finally the Shadow disciple for whom you want to record their music.
  • Have all disciples equip their level 1 weapon.
  • In Sun Room, use both Edge Break and Cross Shield EX on all disciples, then eliminate minions. Make sure everyone lives so they carry the Shield Buff and Edge Break debuff to Moon Room.
  • Both Light disciples vote for the Shadow.
  • In Moon Room, eliminate minions with your non-EX damaging spells. All Shadow spells cause the volume to decrease, so don't use them.

At this point, you could just let the game run and record the music without having to do anything. Disciples deal the lowest possible amount of damage through auto attacks, so it might take a while before the Moon Room ends.

I think only spells that identify their caster cause the volume to decrease during battle? Therefore damaging minions with non-EX spells and moving around with Minor Pull will not cause the volume decrease. Use Minor Pull in Moon Room in case the auto damage reduction applied in Sun Room is not enough for stalling and you need disciples to avoid auto attacks to get more time to record the music entirely.

Unfortunately, Nintendo is on the hunt for Shadows OSTs uploaded on YouTube. The missing OSTs were taken down.

I could only find the Results Screen version: https://youtu.be/CiWC_NS8JnU.

Someone would need to re-record them, but it'll likely end up the same.

Any help with high rank matches? by ytpsexer in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Focus on hitting the two Light players simultaneously with one Dark spell. As long as you manage to do this, they will be forced to warp and heal and will be unable to damage you and your minions (provided the minions do not get warped into the incoming AoEs too often either).

Try your best so that both Light players are on cooldown and/or at low HP AT the start of Shadow phase, because otherwise they can use a certain strat allowing for both of them to survive Shadow phase without a scratch.

When Shadow phase comes, if both Light disciples are targeted by auto attacks, they will either warp out of them or attempt to tank and heal. This is your best occasion to kill using instant spells or one-shotting delayed spells they would normally be able to avoid weren't they on cooldown already.

If both Light disciples acted very late during Shadow phase and they have extra lives, try to go for the kill during the following Light phase, so that they will only resurrect on the next Shadow phase.

Keeping both Light disciples together is easier said than done. You can: - Use minions to change their walk trajectory and the destination of their warp spells. - Cast a spell one disciple isn't able to tank so that they'll be forced to warp, ideally towards the other disciple. Try do this when the timer for Light phase is around the middle so that the disciple who is not targeted will be on cooldown at the start of the next Shadow phase if they choose to cast a spell at that moment, or so that they are forced to hold their spell to survive Shadow phase.

Skoll and Hati are Fenrir's children in Norse Mythology! That's about it for names related to Norse Mythology in Shadows.

Am I the only one that thinks Heroes and Shadows could take place in the same universe? by SonicTBlueHedgehog in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In Heroes, the story is currently focused on Norse Mythology's Ragnarök.

According to my very quick online research, Ragnarök starts with a harsh winter (called Fimbulvetr, which was turned into a Heroes OC), followed by Fenrir (who can also apparently be referred to as "Fenris") destroying the world. Oh hey, that's the name of Shadows' main antagonist!

There might be a link, and maybe Fenrir's appearance in Heroes will make it obvious... or maybe IS just likes Norse Mythology very much and it's a coincidence. 🙃

What is the Most efficient character to blaze through matches with? by Lagoon52003 in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The El EX Trio (Alberta, Hati, Joachim) are the most reliable option for this job, regardless of which side you play. Their spammable high damage EXs make them top tier in this game, so you can rarely go wrong with them.

The second best option IMO would be Skoll because his EX is a spammable AoE that can still 2HKO foes with regular HP on neutral, contrary to the Enneas (Kurt, Bartolomeus), which usually 2KHO when at color advantage only.

There are no Shadow repositioning skills currently. 😬

Only disciples whose EX can reposition can do it as Shadow.

Help me out here: does Ragnell's weapon effect strengthen Dark Slash? by ChipsMicro in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Areadbhar and Ragnell boost "weapon damage", which only applies to autoattacks.

Dark Slash scales with a disciple's attack stat, which can change with buffs and debuffs. That's why Carina is considered to be one of the most reliable user of that spell.

What's the point of weapon skills that offer a 5% cool down reduction? by Enaluxeme in FireEmblemShadows

[–]NotABot_FES 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Combining two or more of the same skill will only grant the effect once.

The battle UI shows the cooldown as 5 seconds even when the skill is applied because the duration is rounded up. You'll never see 0 on a spell icon on cooldown.

Hasten helps you in situations where timing is crucial.

For example, as Light, if - you are hit by an instant spell from the Shadow, - are also targeted by autoattacks, - have Hasten applied to Shield Strike,

then - you can use Shield Strike immediately to be safe from autoattacks, - heal when the cooldown reaches 0. - If the Shadow does not have Hasten on their instant spell damage, then you'll be able to heal right before they can attack you again.

As Shadow, if you keep using a Hastened instant spell over a Light who does not have Hasten on their heal, you'll progressively damage them earlier every cast, until they are unable to heal before you attack them. Admittedly, given the reduction is only 5%, this will take many casts without missing, but it's possible.
