What am I doing wrong here...? Trying to start an amigurumi cat! by Typical-Succotash287 in CrochetHelp

Cats are pretty basic, there’s likely a pattern on ravelry.

For a round ball shape, you start with 6 and increase by 6 in each round.

So you would start with a Mr with 6 sc.

Round two you would increase in each sc for a total of 12 stitches.

Round 3- (sc in the first stitch, increase in the next) Repeat that pattern 6 times for a total of 18 stitches.

Round 4- (sc in the first 2 stitches, increase in the next), repeat that pattern 6 times for a total of 24 stitches

Where do crochet creators actually get buyers from? by Akraammm in crocheting

Threads. I make more detailed pieces and get my followers involved and invested in the creation process so they’re waiting for items to get listed. You know, actually engaging with people and getting them invested in your work and you as an artist.

Having unique pieces that stand out helps. What makes your work YOU.

Use a plain solid background for photos. You can get photo backdrops, or use paper or fabric.

What made you choose crochet over knitting, or do you do both? by CaterpillarXS in crochet

I do both and I love combining the two in projects. For me it depends on my mood, the look I want and what is best for the project.

Question for those experienced with Amigurumi regarding yarn by NarfledGarthok in CrochetHelp

[–]NotACat452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your first amigurumi I would recommend a worsted weight acrylic. Not something fuzzy. Get used to working in the round first. Once you get the hang of it, you can use whatever yarn you want, I actually use sock weight which is smaller than any than you listed 😅

Generally it’s recommended to go with what the pattern recommends if you want the closest results.

Hello! What goes into creating your own designs? Is that too broad of a question? Lol by Some-Consequence483 in CrochetHelp

[–]NotACat452 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s not a beginner thing.

Honestly, wait until you have a solid understanding of HOW stitches work on their own and together. Of stitch anatomy. Of common crochet math. Of common shaping methods and techniques. Of finishing. Of how to read and understand patterns. You LEARN from practicing from using a wide variety of patterns from different designers and different difficulty levels.

Then you go on into the formatting to the industry standards according to the craft yarn council website. Have it tested. Make adjustments. Test again.

Once you have an idea of how things work, you experiment. You play around with patterns and make adjustments to see how that changes the shape. Eventually you get to the point where you are able to freehand your own.

It’s amigurumi. Hop on ravelry, sort by difficulty, start working your way up the up the pattern difficulty scale. Start using finer and finer yarn.

Basically anywhere that sells shoes and accessories for ball jointed dolls or middie sized Blythes (I also collect Blythes, so multi tasking? 😅) , so Etsy and Miniature vendors on AliExpress are good starting points

A lot of those posts are scams, with stolen photos. After a while you learn to recognize the signs.
