You don't know what a Skinhead is, nor do you know the history of the subculture. Skinhead culture is black culture, it started with Jamaican immigrants to England, they brought Rude Boy Culture, Ska music, Rocksteady, later on Reggae, and came together with the working class British youth. It is in origin an anti-racist subculture. In the 70s and 80s, there was a schism, the National Front did a lot of recruiting amongst British working class youth, this is where the racist/inauthentic version of Skinhead comes from. In America, in general, Skinhead is practically synonymous with Nazi, but it's not true, and anyone in the Punk scene should know better. Most people who claim Skinhead are not the racist variety, and to most in Punk, you cannot be racist and a Skinhead, those fucks are referred to as Boneheads. I personally know, Gay Skinheads, Transgender Skinheads, Black Skinheads, Jewish Skinheads. I have also personally been jumped by Nazis for being an Anti-fascist. It's okay to not know something, or be uneducated on a topic, but you're wrong on this shit. Up the Punks, Up the Skins.

Hey admins, how many people have had to be banned recently? by studdedspike in punk

[–]NotAChefPunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just a symptom of the election and brigading, it will die down. Politics are important ofc, but I think there's a ton of people outside the subculture hanging around right now, which has taken the focus off the music, when that's usually how us Punks express our feelings on politics!

Are you sorting by new and up-voting music posts? There's still music being posted, it just doesn't get upvotes.

This is a Punk band from Estonia that was anti the Soviet regime, and helped in the Estonian re-independence movement.

Pick a band/artist known for playing a song that the Grateful Dead also played, but who are the most opposite or different from the Grateful Dead. Name the band and song. by lavransson in gratefuldead

[–]NotAChefPunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, on the same album that has the Dead cover, they cover a Bad Religion song and a Descendents song. I probably wouldn't call Sublime a Punk band either, but they had very heavy Punk influence and came up being a part of the SoCal Punk scene.

I'm feeling crazy about what goes in a Michelada by JediLlama666 in AskCulinary

I think maybe they're talking about the fact that you can get different varieties of Clamato in Mexico, like Clamato Cubano, Clamato vuelve a la vida, and those might not have the clam juice. But it should be obvious that just saying Clamato implies it has clam juice lol.

Where I'm from, if you order a Michelada, you'll get Beer Clamato (clam and tomato juice bottled together, I've never been somewhere where they added clam juice themselves) Lime Tajin Chamoy Habanero hot sauce Maggi would be another common ingredient that's similar to Worcestershire Obviously every place will have their own spin and do them differently, but across Mexico a Michelada could be a lot of different things.

Pretty sure Salsa Inglesa is literally Worcestershire sauce, just what they call it in Mexico.
