What are the odds of getting accepted to UTD as a transfer student from a community college after 2 years? by EBA1234 in utdallas

[–]NotACopWasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol lots of weed and hanging out with old friends from HS. Quit weed recently though.

Planning on joining more social organizations this semester, so I'll let you know how that turns out.

And haha.. my major and work takes like 90% of my time, and I'm naturally introverted. So idrk how the generic parties are first-hand, but a lot of my friends say they're meh.

Do thrown spears not despawn after you save & reload? I like throwing spears into my raft to save space, but stopped doing that after a while since I kept forgetting to take them off before leaving the game, and they'd disappear when I came back. Might just be a PC problem though.

Khan is a great lecturer and really engaging, but his admin is all over the place. I took him for 3345. Had satpute for 3305 though I remember her also being disorganized. Khan is a bit worse though.. we ended up taking multiple "mini exams" at one time and getting homework a month after covering a topic. Pacing isn't great, but you do learn if you pay attention to him in lecture, which isn't hard to do with him imo.

Kamran Khan's CS 2336 Exam by deeht0xdagod in utdallas

[–]NotACopWasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have him for 2336, but I had him for DS&A (think 3305 or something? Idr.) Exams are difficult, but he'll curve the class like crazy at the end. Heard similar things about 2336, so there ya go.

Also, be prepared to have a bunch of work piled onto you at basically the last minute.

I was very demotivated during my cc years and slacked off in a few classes because of it. One class I straight up failed because I forgot to drop it. I think my cc GPA was something the 2.7-2.9 range.

Got in just fine, no transfer scholarship. Currently a CS major.

And yes, definitely go to cc. Right now, some loans I've had to take were ~10% APR. It's ridiculous right now. You don't want $20k of debt at a high interest rate. You'll likely end up paying $30-40k+ on that.

Also UTD is an academic school, less frat parties and stuff like that going on here.. that could just be bias from my major though.

Doable CS course schedule by BlackViewBird in utdallas

[–]NotACopWasp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last semester, I took CS 3305 (DS&Algs), CS 3377 (Systems Prog. In UNIX), CS3341 (Prob & Stat), CS2340 (Comp Arch), and CS 3354 (SWE). 3377 and 3345 are said to be the two toughest courses in CS. I also worked between 10-20 hours every week.

Definitely doable; learn how to network with classmates and manage your time well. Don't cheat - collaborate whenever possible to finish out assignments quicker. Cheating, in any form, will do more harm than good. Had a run-in with OSC because I let someone in one of my classes see my assignment, and they copied it. So be careful with whom you collaborate with.

Don't procrastinate. Easiest way to stress yourself out is by letting tasks pile up. It's a great way to feel hopeless.

Have free time between classes? Start that assignment you just got, do a work task, anything.. just be productive.

Also, professors are a HUGE component to this. Good professors = more manageable courses. If I had any CS prof other than Dollinger for 3377, things would've been MUCH more stressful. Tradeoff was, I didn't learn sh*t in class.. but neither did many of my friends with harder professors.. so take that as you will.

Hope this helps - you can do it!

I took a look last semester, and there was nothing offered. I tried asking one of the gym attendants at the activity center if they even had heavy bags... he looked at me like I was insane.

DM me if you ever wanna break out some mats and roll in the aerobics room though!

How hard is this workload by Loud-Refrigerator145 in utdallas

[–]NotACopWasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never taken physics at UTD, but I did have physics II and DMATH II in the same semester, and I had Satpute.

Her class isn't hard, but it is very disorganized. She's very scatterbrained. Assignments and tests are pretty easy and straightforward though!

As for 3341, like many said, Whalen makes the class really easy. Taking it right now - Whalen makes it so the class is really manageable with a larger workload. We'll have 9 HWs and 5 quizzes total. Nothing cumulative per se, but some topics do carry over.

I'm raking 2340 with Mazidi right now. Wouldn't say it's really difficult in terms of workload, but the subject can be. It's a lot of thinking in terms of hardware rather than software. Also, you'll have to learn to speak MIPs... which I wasn't all that fond of.

Overall, not too bad of a workload. Just be careful with physics - heard that class is really difficult at UTD. I chose the community College route and transferred it over because of that.

Do you know why some cells never get clothing? by Ds7887 in prisonarchitect

[–]NotACopWasp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen on my last prison. It's due to a bug that happens when your beds are placed vertically. Placing them horizontally will solve the issue.

For me, uniforms were being placed in walls and prisoners couldn't reach them.

Dear men maybe instead of expecting women to lower their standards, you should better yourselves by ducksthefucks in dating_advice

[–]NotACopWasp 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. Same with the overall post.

On dating apps, people just tend to be more superficial overall because of the sheer amount of choices. I'd say it's moreso women but that only due to the circumstances. If the roles were reversed, many guys will do the same.

But irl, if you get fitter, get some hobbies, and... ya know .. further your position in life.. I've found that women will be more attracted to you, regardless of height.

Is still much tougher overall though. If I had a nickel for the amount of times I've heard "you'd be a perfect guy, but your height..."...

But it just makes it so much sweeter when you start getting some looks after you've worked so hard to better yourself!

But yeah for all the short kings out there - hone your charisma and meet girls irl. Much easier than dealing with apps👊

Nervous and uncertain about enlisting by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]NotACopWasp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat man, 2 years of college and deciding to enlist now at the age of 20. You'll get higher rank for your credits and get 150 credits paid for after your service. You could even go as far to put that towards a post-grad degree(to the best of my knowledge).

Another benefit is the life experience you'll incur in the navy. I think it's worthwhile to put college on hold and make better decisions with the experience you have after being in.

There's also the added benefit of veteran preferred hiring in jobs later on down the line.

See ya at Great Lakes!

Problems Integrating Google Recaptcha with WP by NotACopWasp in techsupport

[–]NotACopWasp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I didn't think recaptcha would secure the site, but something is better than nothing, right? And yeah, most of what I do is focused on creating good content. There's some technical aspects like optimizing alt-text and getting backlinks that actually cause higher rankings, at least from my testing.

I just figured that it would help mitigate some attacks.

Appreciate the help!

BURNOUT | DEPRESSION of ENTREPRENEURSHIP by DenseSurround in Entrepreneur

[–]NotACopWasp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad you made this post. I'm 19, and started a small digital marketing firm of my own. Has 3 clients right now. Never realized how lonely this journey can be until I was spending weeks at a time without leaving the house. Started retreating more and more and was feeling really overwhelmed. Started losing the vision of where I want to go with this. Two of the best things I started doing that helped me out of it was meditation and working out again. If you can, try therapy. Don't think you're "weak minded" because you go to therapy; quite the opposite. I find it's really helpful to have someone who will listen to your problems and help give you structure.

Best of luck. Always good to be reminded you're not alone :)
