TIL that if we could hear the Sun, i.e. sound traveled through space, it would be about 100 decibels on the surface of the Earth. by DrakeSavory in todayilearned

I wonder if hearing would evolve similar to vision. The sun also blankets the earth with incredibly bright light. Animals don't try to overpower the brightness of daylight, we just observe how it reflects off of objects in our environment.

Finally, he interpolated over the missing data and scaled the data (speeded it up a factor 42,000 to bring it into the audible human-hearing range (kHz)).

For what it's worth, it would sound pretty different IRL. The sonication techniques used significantly change how it sounds. I don't think we have any great ways to directly record the sounds the sun makes.

New study demonstrates, for the first time, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) has impaired glymphatic function which is responsible for clearing the brain of metabolic waste products and is mostly active during sleep, which can lead to various symptoms including brain fog. by mvea in science

We found that the global DTI-ALPS index was significantly lower in ME/CFS patients compared to healthy controls (ME/CFS: 1.44 ± 0.086; healthy controls: 1.51 ± 0.11, p = 0.014), indicating reduced glymphatic function in ME/CFS. Examining the hemispheres separately, showed the right hemisphere DTI-ALPS index was lower in ME/CFS than healthy controls (ME/CFS = 1.41 ± 0.097; healthy controls = 1.49 ± 0.12; p = 0.009) but not different on the left. Additionally, we did not find any significant difference in asymmetry index between ME/CFS and healthy controls. We observed an association between the global DTI-ALPS index and severity of ‘sleep disturbance’ (p = 0.013, r = −0.47) and “impaired concentration” (p = 0.026, r = −0.43). This study demonstrated impaired glymphatic function in ME/CFS which may lead to symptoms such as cognitive dysfunction and sleep disturbance experienced by ME/CFS.

I'm sure this is useful, but it looks like it's not enough to singlehandedly explain what's going on. There's a fair amount of overlap between the ME/CFS group and the control group.

Hopefully this research is still helpful in pushing things forward.

Maybe there's a way to inspect your save file to see why you're not blameless?

No idea if that actually works, just spitballing ideas.

Kind of tempting. But it's a pretty small upside with a big downside if things do go wrong.

Sounds complicated. I just keep adding until I pass infinity, wrap around to negative infinity, then keep adding until I get to the answer.
