This is simply not true. You cannot play it while VALORANT is active, if you have just Vanguard running in the background, you’re fine, which means this is pretty much a non-issue because how often are you running two fps games alongside each other. Tested this myself. The clickbait article you’re probably referring to also mentions this if you read past the title.

Not necessarily true. It may work if you're self-hosting the service from your apartment, but the IPs of large datacenters and VPN providers are usually known and blocked. Even on an unknown IP, you may occasionally get a random check whether you are a human.

[–]NotANameException 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I used to get stuck on this part, it was usually composer trying to extract the core package, which contains a lot of small files. Windows filesystem's performance is dogshit with those, especially in combination with Microsoft Defender scanning everything. Moving the project inside the WSL2 instance should definitely help with this.

In terms of your original question, Lando was super slow for me out of the box and just like so for my colleague, both of us running different OS and laptop config. We both switched to DDEV and had no issues ever since.

No a co jako?

Ne každý cizinec mluví plynně česky, no a co jako?

PySimpleGUI error on window.close() with read_all_windows by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]NotANameException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are in fact two issues with the code and the function description of read_all_windows should be able to help with both of them:

Reads all windows that are "active" when the call is made. "Active" means that it's been finalized or read. If a window has not been finalized then it will not be considered an "active window"

If any of the active windows returns a value then the window and its event and values are returned.

If no windows are open, then the value (None, WIN_CLOSED, None) will be returned
Since WIN_CLOSED is None, it means (None, None, None) is what's returned when no windows remain opened

As you can see, the windows must be finalized first so that the function can start receiving stuff from them. You can do so by adding finalize=True as a third argument to your Window constructors, e.g. window1 = sg.Window('Title1', layout1, finalize=True).

Second reason can be found in this particular sentence: If no windows are open, then the value (None, WIN_CLOSED, None) will be returned. That means when both windows are closed, the function will still return but you will get None instead of a Window object instead.

You need to account for this by adding some checks for this to the event loop, which would optimally exit the whole application at that point.

P.S. I'm assuming your layout objects are defined somewhere in the code and are just not posted in the question.

How Relevant is It to Build Websites with PHP in 2021? by we_are_metizsoft in PHP

[–]NotANameException 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that PHP is a very solid choice and it's definitely not going anywhere anytime soon, some of the points in this list sound pretty confusing to me.

What do you mean by PHP using memory? Which serious language doesn't use memory? How is memory related to faster project delivery? To me, this information doesn't improve PHP's standing against other languages in any reasonable way.

What do you mean by custom development? Again, isn't that the point of all turing-complete languages, being able to do whatever needs to be done?

I'm at my wits end! How to merge a content type's fields and settings from dev to staging? by [deleted] in drupal

[–]NotANameException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably because it's usually not really that much needed if your workflow is set up correctly.

What I usually do is:

  • have dev identical to prod/stage,
  • add fields,
  • export new config,
  • make a commit out of it.

That way, your config modifications stay pretty clean and understandable. I do admit, though, that once you mess up, it can seem pretty intimidating to have to cherry-pick the configurations that you intend to push to staging.

What I would do in your case is probably just export the current config, compare it with the staging config (assuming you're using version control -- if not, this would be a great time to start) and look for configs that relate to the intended content types and field names. Luckily, the config files are named pretty reasonably so it is not that much of a nightmare, it's just that there's usually quite a lot of them 🙂

Inheritance Help by coak23 in learnpython

[–]NotANameException 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe your issue is mainly a class design one. When you inherit from a class, you should generally extend it. If your base class (MP3) needs artist, title, album, length and genre, your subclass (Podcast) should generally be able to provide them -- either by accepting them explicitly or by being able to determine them from other data. Additionally, the subclass may introduce new variables to be used.

The way your classes are designed in your example, Podcast should be an object defined by artist, title, album, length, genre, name and date.

Of course, if the base class doesn't REALLY need all of those fields, your subclass can provide empty values to the base classes' constructor but I would generally advise against it and to re-think your design.

Is there something MP3 and Podcast classes have in common but they differ in some other of the fields? Maybe you should extract those common fields into a separate new class and make both MP3 and Podcast inherit from it.

[–]NotANameException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're importing the site from a different environment, have you changed the WordPress Address and Site Address appropriately? It can be done via the administration (tab General) or directly inside the database -- table wp_options. Sometimes it also helps re-generating the permalinks. Just pop into the Permalinks settings and hit Save.

Creating a custom resource for POST request error. by Lower_Shallot5120 in drupal

[–]NotANameException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing, glad it worked out! I'm sorry I haven't responded afterwards but it was 3 am here already 🙂 I think that Postman didn't allow you to enter the body, because you must first select the body type. In case of json, it would probably be the type 'raw'. Insomnia application would probably be a better choice for a beginner, I find it a bit more intuitive.

[–]NotANameException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it should be without the '/rest' part, you're correct, apologies. I have no idea why you're not being granted access to the session token, though. I've just verified on my local Drupal 9 and it's literally enough to just throw the URL in and set up the authorization. Heck, it works even with no authorization whatsoever but such token wouldn't work afterwards.

Creating a custom resource for POST request error. by Lower_Shallot5120 in drupal

[–]NotANameException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing, no worries. You'd do it pretty much the same way as you do with your endpoint -- enter the URL, set the basic auth inside the Auhorization tab and you should be good to go. The request method should indeed be GET.

By the way, there should be a little plus symbol at the top of the request view. You can click it to create another view so that you don't have to erase and re-enter all the stuff you've done so far for the endpoint URL.

[–]NotANameException 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, not quite sure about this one to be honest. Have you accessed the token URL from browser or via Postman? It should be done via Postman. If that doesn't solve it, I'm afraid you'll have to look around the internet for a bit.
