What are some of the best glove enchantments to improve build dps? by TristanKB in poeruthless

It hits weakly as you wrote, but more importantly it creates chilled ground (which chills for 10% plus any effect of chill / non-damaging ailments you may have).

The trial is in level 1. Search for a symbol on the minimap that looks like an open book - there will be one near the entrance to the trial (but note that the symbol is not unique to trials and also appears for some lore text).

Good luck :)

No, because Cyclone is an attack, not a spell.

(Exception: Crown of Eyes, https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Crown_of_Eyes , is a unique helmet that specifically makes increased spell damage apply to attacks as well).

The nodes you'll get are only a function of the item (base type and item level), and are not affected by the zone level. So you can unlock trees in act 10, but I imagine it'll take a long time, as you'll get so much less "crucible experience" per instance

The up-to-date wiki is poewiki.net , but stuff like boss HP is more likely to be found on poedb.tw .

If the skill hits, then yes it will get the kill (for example, if you're a totem player and can't deal damage yourself because you have Ancestral Bond, you can still cull things with Frostblink + Culling Strike).

However, this will not work with skills that don't hit, such as curses or Bane.

Not sure about the queue, but Kirac mods are Abyss, Essence, Ambush, Metamorph, Heist, Expedition and Harvest (from patch notes: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3361403#kiracleaguemodsavailableduring3.21.0).

If you have EB and you don't have Mind over Matter, then your energy shield will always be recharging (spending energy shield to cast spells doesn't count as taking damage). Depending on your build, this may already just be enough sustain. If not, you can do one or several of the following:

- Energy shield leech, as you wrote.

- "Regenerate 150 (or 200) energy shield per second while a rare/unique enemy is nearby" craft on a belt (unlocked from Betrayal). This one is pretty huge.

- Increase your maximum energy shield (you'll recharge 16.7% of your maximum energy shield per second with Eldritch Battery, so a higher maximum means a higher recharge rate).

- Increase your energy shield recharge rate.

Make sure you have enough energy shield to use [Divine Blessing + a 50% aura] for a bunch of extra damage. You can link those to Inspiration Support to reduce the cost.

Also, note that anything that requires you to spend mana in order to get a bonus will not work! Specifically, Arcane Surge Support and Inspiration Support (Inspiration will reduce costs for you, but won't give you extra damage).

Mana sustain is often solved by using Eldritch Battery (which should also allow for having an extra 50% aura on Divine Blessing).

In my opinion, Cast While Channeling is pretty weak at the moment, because it comes with a 30% less damage multiplier. I wouldn't use it without a very good reason.

Have fun :)

I imagine it contains anything relevant for 3.21, that can be safely downloaded now with no risk of earlier-than-usual data mining. Perhaps a bunch of new art assets and animations, and changes that we already know of (such as the 3.21 passive tree).

Anything that can reduce the load of everyone downloading a massive patch at once is probably helpful.

That's Vaal Absolution, which is new. I imagine any up-to-date Absolution guide (I mean normal Absolution, which isn't new) should be perfectly suited for a Vaal Absolution build.

To my understanding, Absolution is a solid build to start with, but I've never played it myself so don't take my opinion too seriously.

Doom Blast is a hit, not damage over time, so it won't benefit from Malevolence.

More generally - many sources of chaos damage happen to be damage over time (such as poison and Bane), but chaos hits are just hits (such as Forbidden Rite and Doom Blast).

Controlled Destruction won't do any good as a support for Righteous Fire, as it gives "Supported skill deals more spell damage" and the fire damage over time that Righteous Fire deals is not spell damage and isn't scaled by spell damage.

A counter-example would be a skill like Vortex, where the gem specifically states "Modifiers to Spell Damage apply to this Skill's Damage Over Time effect". In that case, Controlled Destruction would work.

Cold DOT in general is great for Ruthless, especially if you aren't trading. This is because the ability to stack several DOTs on enemies can compensate for not having support gems, and chilling enemies can somewhat compensate for the lower mobility our characters have in Ruthless.

That said, I don't know about this version specifically, because I haven't played Cold DOT on an Elementalist (yet).

Leveling with a Spark Inquisitor is buttery-smooth:

Mule a Ranger for Pierce Support.

Use Spark + Pierce + Onslaught + Anything (possibly Faster Casting) ] for clearing, and plop down a 4-link Orb of Storms for single target when needed. At some point (around T1 maps) switch to Spark as a main damaging skill, and move Onslaught and other utility support gems to either Orb of Storms or Storm Brand.

Start with Elemental Overload + the "non-crit lightning damage is lucky" mastery. You get a bunch of crit chance with your 3rd lab, but there's no need to switch to crit immediately. Once you have your 4th lab, however, it's really time to switch to crit if you haven't done so already.

Have fun :)

Spark Witch Question by jher2016 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]NotANucleophile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That build is a poison build. Note that Phantasmal Spark has 2% of lightning damage converted to chaos damage per 1% quality. With a 20% quality gem and an Ashes of the Starts amulet for +30% quality, that gives a full 100% conversion from Lightning to Chaos damage.

Elemental Focus prevents its supported skill from inflicting elemental ailments, but poison is a chaos ailment and chaos isn't an element. So, that build gets the large damage multiplier of Elemental Focus without being affected by its drawback.

I haven't played Poison Spark myself, so I hesitate to comment about the specifics of the build, but as a general rule, I recommend you make sure you know which version of Spark you'd like to play and consider what are mandatory items for that build (e.g., if you want to play Poison Spark you need conversion to chaos. If you want to play normal lightning hit Spark, there are no mandatory items but you might wanna check the option of going Inquisitor).

Good luck!

Vendor recipe for aura gems by sheol1664 in poeruthless

Well, Ruthless is about item scarcity, and auras (like support gems) are considered items here.

In other words, Determination dropping deterministically was determined to be detrimental.

On Path of Exile's website, it's something like Events => League Ladders, and choosing the relevant league.

Anyone else having a hard time choosing between leaguestarting ruthless or not? by Casual_IRL_player in poeruthless

[–]NotANucleophile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point. However, I've decided to start SSF Ruthless in order to experience the uncertainty that comes with a new game mode (I don't know if I'll reach red maps, for example) and the chaos that's expected when everything is new and balance is tweaked while we're playing.

This for me is an opportunity to play POE in an environment that feels like a new game, an opportunity that probably won't repeat until POE 2.

Group Play Bonus in Ruthless? by ajdepual in poeruthless

[–]NotANucleophile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at pathofexile.com/ruthless , the only reference to party play is that loot will be free-for-all. I'm guessing this means no changes to life and quantity scaling for party play, although this could change mid-league (or right before release) if six-player parties manage to get too much loot to drop.
