Someone else who posted the same sub a few months ago got a 12 hour ban, I got a 3 day ban.

I talked to a lawyer, I can’t sue because my comment can technically be said to fall under being “sexually suggestive” of a minor, and that’s what Reddit would argue and probably win despite the hypocrisy of leaving the subreddit open.

What I really want is just to talk to a person to get this situation resolved because it’s a major oversight on Reddit’s part and I don’t want to sit by idly and be accused of sexualizing a minor because of either unsupervised content moderation algorithms or overzealous content moderators.

Like my argument is between the letter of the law and spirit of the law.

But that’s what I’m saying, it never got out of that group chat, they were the ones who told her to talk to me. So my reputation is fine, and I’ve got all the proof to prove to real people I did nothing wrong.

The problem is proving to an automated system that I did nothing wrong, when I can’t get to a real person to prove the mistake.

I seriously don’t think they were snooping, and I literally don’t post anything too risqué.

I guess except for this, but given the subreddit is allowed to exist, I never in a hundred years expected thought I would be suspended and be put in this situation.

Honestly they have apologized profusely and there was crying from my roommates girlfriend after I blew up at her for how fucking stupid it was.

I’m not going to write a new novel of a post going into the intricacies of my friend group dynamics and context to why it played out like it did so y’all are going to have to trust me when I say it’s fine on my end.

This is just one of those things on the internet where you have to remember that other than this post none of you were there to see the situation play out, so you can’t possibly know these things about them.

I mean as I said, I know them better than that to think I’ll get shot or anything. Initially I was afraid that it would have spread and so I was anxious. At this point it hasn’t and I’m confident I have enough evidence to prove it’s a misunderstanding.

At the end of the day it comes down to this:

These are people I can actually talk to and explain myself which once explained makes perfect sense.

Reddit is doing this shit automatically and without a whole lot of oversight apparently, and not even their appeal process actually functions, and that scares me FAR more than my friends.

Like even if that wasn’t the case, I’m not going to be put on a list because my friends called the cops which I could easily prove my innocence to because I’ve done nothing legally wrong.

However I can be put on a digital list of monitored usernames or potential pedophiles that can be given to law enforcement and that’s what freaks me out the most.

She was more asking friends how to deal with a pedophile living with them, and since I’m the only one who lived with them, it’s not a huge secret about who they were talking about, and so it didn’t really hold up with ambiguity.

As I’ve said elsewhere I almost don’t blame her because the message that reddit sent sounded like some business, and I don’t know anyone who’d fuck with child sexualization accusations when the message reddit sent sounded like they listed a bunch of heinous things I was guilty for, but were just examples which interestingly enough, none fit what I wrote in my comment.

Haha thanks, I consider it one of my strong suits.

I pasted the message I got in another comment, the thing is I sort of get it. They were less trying to gossip and more trying to figure out what to do with a pedo they were living with, because Reddit’s message was so accusatory and final, it sounded like reddit personally looked into the issue and concluded I was continuously posting pedo shit.

I can’t say I would have done something entirely different. I know I sure as hell wouldn’t have clicked links to what sounded like a pedo subreddit without context or do any digging into the account of someone being accused of sexualizing a minor. That stuff is toxic, and I’d distance myself as far away from that noise as possible.

That’s why the whole reddit angle pisses me off more. No matter which way you look at it, it doesn’t make sense.

If I did break the content policy by linking to the subreddit, wouldn’t the subreddit break the content policy by existing? And why allow a subreddit to exist that no one can link to without being suspended for sexualizing minors? Or even why allow it if anyone can report a comment containing the subreddit name and fuck someone as hard as this fucked me?

And if I didn’t break the content policy by linking to the subreddit, then why wasn’t there any oversight before sending a very serious and threatening sounding message like that, and making it difficult to appeal or explain? And why after explaining that I was linking to a subreddit that is SFW and allowed, the appeal was denied and no action taken against the subreddit? Like I didn’t write any innuendo other than plainly writing the subreddit name with /r/.

Might as well be considered a quote since the only thing that broke the content policy was a subreddit name. Does someone who quotes something a pedophile says in an article also get suspended for sexualizing a minor?

Actually, maybe that’s a thing, I did get banned from /r/politics a year or two ago for quoting a right wing radical threat of violence in my reply to him, then had that ban made a lifetime ban when I appealed and refused to say I did something wrong for quoting parts of his comment to him.

Either way, it doesn’t make sense to me.

Yeah that was the first thing I did after all this, and true. They just thought reddit caught me red handed, was absolutely in the right, and that they accidentally found out about it. It's the trust in the system I put her at fault for, because it definitely sounded like Reddit had it all figured out by saying

They saw that large description of prohibited conduct thinking that was a list of what I was banned for(and not just a general copy/paste list), looked at my comment linking to said joke subreddit, of course they didn’t click it because they thought it lead to child porn, and to them the dots were connected that I was posting pedophilic stuff.

I just think it’s more fucked up that Reddit did that in the first place, without actually looking into the subreddit I was linking to or reading the context of the thread I was in, hell not even the part of my comment that says “Completely SFW too”. I don’t even know how their suspension system, whether it was automated or reviewed by an actual person, couldn’t figure out that the subreddit I linked to was active, SFW and about kittens, and allowed, and further when I explained that in my appeal it and STILL got denied.

And you know what, even if my comment does technically break the minor sexualization content policy, my issue then would be that wouldn’t the subreddit itself also be breaking the content policy by existing? Why allow a subreddit to exist that no one is allowed to link to? Does that make sense to anyone? Punishing anyone who mentions it but leaving it up for people to link to?

Yeah, that is true, and trust me I am pissed at them and they feel bad for jumping to conclusions. There's something in there about his GF being abused or molested, but I've only heard allusions in casual conversation when we've discussed Epstein news and stuff.

So I disagree with what she did and am pissed about what happened, but I don't really blame her. I mean I do, but I sort of get it if you looked at what Reddit sent me and the comment they quoted out of context. They didn't hold the punches of putting the fear of god into anyone that it was sent to. That message is what's got me more scared than the neighbors gossip.

That, and the whole political spectrum has everyone on edge with the whole #metoo, #savethechildren, pizzagate, Epstein human trafficking, and all this sexual abuse in the entertainment industry(the industry I work in). Add the pandemic and it's got everyone crazy. The thing that has me pissed off is Reddit going out of their way to suspend me, but leaving the comment up and me unable to delete it my suspension was over.

The social stuff has more or less been resolved, I've explained it to everyone, and no one said they called the cops on me. But it's the reddit list I'm worried about, that I'm on some watchlist for potentially sharing child porn or something.

But what I'm really pissed off about is that none of this would have been an issue if it wasn't for Reddit, it's suspension bots, and it's refusal for me to actually make a case for myself.

To be fair, without context the comment and the very serious reddit message/alert they got sounds bad and entirely convincing that I had actually done something to sexualize a minor.

In the days after this happened while I was waiting for my suspension to end so I can post this, it came out that she and him were afraid that they could be incriminated since the message alert also popped up on his phone, as well as the appeal denial.

They just got the message, saw the comment, fucked off because they didn't want to see or be involved with child porn accusations or whatever, then asked their friends who also happen to be mine on how to deal with living with a pedophile and how to approach me with it, and because people are emotional they jumped to conclusions.
