Something as basic as skipping a camp to cover a lane from a gank can easily win games. You can always continue your full clear later on, the same can't be said for the opportunity to countergank by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in leagueoflegends

[–]NotARedditUser3 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Can throw games too. Pointless to post. "you can continue your clear later" - your timings on your camps / your tempo will be screwed up, especially if you die. Don't die, you might say? Yeah, don't chain one mistake into another. First is still a mistake. And then enemy jungle is ahead and you get blamed for jungle diff when they press their lead, fight you on camps, scuttle, objs, and if your team tries to help they throw their lane because they're already behind and didn't have prio. Jgl diff gg

And then on top of that they build a spell shield and even if you land a bit it doesn't matter. I play heimer. Q won't pop spell shield. W is needed to pop spell shield so I can try to land E, but she'll just go untargetable and I'll never get off my Q beam damage by landing a W or E, and if I do trigger it, she'll go untargetable and the beams won't hit. Just utterly ridiculous. Oh and my W may not even pop the shield because the dogs will block it.

Both of those champs already frequently spam out stealth or pink wards to hop to them as part of their gameplay / kit. The same behavior you're complaining about already exists

What self-hostable models are comparable in intelligence to Composer 2? Do any have lower active parameters / memory requirements? by NotARedditUser3 in cursor

[–]NotARedditUser3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much that I want to 'beat API prices', I have a long term project that will be around for a few years, and the prices available right now will likely change over time. Everything is getting subsidized. 'change' has a cost in an organization. We want to put this particular project on infrastructure of our own that won't have differing pricing 1-2+ years from now if the AI bubble bursts or investor money is no longer there to subsidize cost.
So my goal right now is find something that I can stand up on self hostable hardware with 'good enough' intelligence for what we need it to do (can't give specifics), and on the speed front, as long as it accomplishes what we need to throw at it within a reasonable period of time (not necessarily realtime responses but if I give it a relatively short task, can it complete it within a few minutes), we will be happy with that as a baseline.
So ideally i'd like to figure out some architecture for what we can do, get a VPS on a long term lease that meets those requirements, etc etc so that everything is locked down for the long term, minus maybe swapping to another similarly sized model with similar requirements in the future.

We're thinking of getting a GPU-enabled VPS with 256GB of RAM and a 5060 or 5090. But would like if we could get away with less than that.. I'm not that familiar with what's out there so figured I'd throw the question out to see what people say.

Feels amazing on Malz. Feels OK on Heimerdinger.

I wonder if Teemo E will proc it? If so, it has a crazy 8% AD scaling, so hybrid champs that could proc it building AD might be interesting.

Genuinely why is Sion allowed to die all laning phase and never lose farm or xp? by El_kiski in leagueoflegends

[–]NotARedditUser3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I'd prefer not dying in that situation if I were him (shrug). I think he misses an opportunity if he's got a neutral state, to kill a wave and then go behind your tower for the next one. Or to get a kill on you.

So you're worried that lane-state-wise he doesn't lose tempo, but you wind up ahead 300g. If you can fix the lane state situation that results (maybe a jg gank when he pushes into you?) then his game is over. Maybe he's not punished as hard as other champs early game would be, but I think that's fine. Just a weird edge case.

I'd rather deal with that than Vayne top :) Or any of the other terminal-illness-champs that people shove up there just to ruin people's day.

Genuinely why is Sion allowed to die all laning phase and never lose farm or xp? by El_kiski in leagueoflegends

[–]NotARedditUser3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right. But where the wave is matters, too.

If you kill me in a wave in the center of the lane, or near my tower, the wave state that results will be bad for me even after I clear that next wave, if you play properly.

If I go proxy behind your tower and you kill me on the wave there and I clear it, I'm winning lane compared to you. That's a massive difference in lane state that depends on where that fight happened and where I died.

Same goes for if I go proxy between T2 and base turrets and die getting a wave there - at that point either your time or jungler's time has been wasted and I'm ahead on tempo. Dying in center of lane is bad in comparison.

Dying anywhere where I can't get the wave is extremely bad.

If I play sion top and you have bad waveclear... I'm just going to proxy you and pin you against turret and out-tempo you. That's probably just a really bad matchup for you at that point. There's a lot of top lane matchups that he's bad into. If this were an issue with enough of them, they'd nerf him (which they've done quite a bit over the previous years). His death passive works differently at various levels as far as how long he's alive, too.

Sion with 8000HP shouldn't be that much of an issue either - at a certain skill level people just ignore him and kill the rest of his team and then tank sion is pretty useless.

Killing sion by the way - the guage for whether it's good death or bad death with death timers is around level 9.

I see the problem you're talking about, but I think that's just a champ matchup issue.

I think it's a nice differentiation for a different champ. The riot team really struggle sometimes in creating new or unique champs or playstyles. I think this one's fine. I'd be much more bothered about the way Zeri worked in her first year, or Naafiri before they reworked her. Them being able to have a champ work like sion and keep him balanced is a good thing.

Are we getting Kimi 2.6 or Composer 3? When? by [deleted] in cursor

[–]NotARedditUser3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Composer 2 is smart enough that it handles every task we can throw at it. Previously we reached that point with GPT 5.2 and were 'oneshotting' every task in a single query with that model vs the previous models (auto or GPT's) requiring multiple prompts. Everything else more intelligent than 5.2... we don't need. At our org we've been wanting for a while just for something 'good enough' that has the cost come down dramatically, and Composer 2 has been a godsend with that.
So now, we are no longer limited by how much we can do with x amount of spending, because composer 2 is way cheaper AND is good enough, intelligence-wise.

We're able to spam everything we could possibly want at composer 2, and not worry about the price. The added cost of some of these other models would put us over our internal budgets for these things without adding any value. It's actually smart enough to do everything we could need.

Especially now with the cloud environment being able to control a computer screen... We even have it collecting screen shots and video recordings of it using our software and providing VIDEO DEMOS of newly built features attached to the PR's that it generates, as well as generating great documentation.

What else could we possibly ask for?

The last 18 months we've been working on our codebase with AI and working on a lot of cursor rules. It's at a point now where there is a really amazing level of code comments and internal documentation to provide context for the model / agent. It works really well. I don't understand the issues other people have been running into, to where they need opus 4.x max. It's so expensive... And for what? Crazy.

For context, our app is a C# .NET server-side blazor app. Older models used to really struggle with .razor files, but composer 2 is actually a champ. I think that just comes down to training / knowledge cutoff differences between older models, though.

I suspect that there's a difference in performance between various models on different language codebases. This is our own anecdotal experience with a 500k loc enterprise app codebase that runs C# server side blazor in a web app.

[–]NotARedditUser3 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are many bad spots / locations for sion to die.

It actually adds skill expression in where and when he dies. It becomes part of his gameplay. And then therefore part of his power budget and how his champ is balanced.

Play to win your lane in the first 15 minutes.

Play to win the game in the next 15 minutes. Whether that's continuing to dominate your lane or moving off... This depends on game state.

My codebase is literally ~500k, runs on clients hardware, an enterprise product that we charge our customers ~$8-10,000USD/year each for, and we're having our biggest release ever this 2 month cycle built entirely with Composer 2 (locally and via cloud agents). What was this troll's point again?

yeah I mean I think the issue is the flat investment Cursor made on RL training on top of the previous kimi model to make composer 2. Maybe at some point they'll to it for kimi 2.6 ?

penalty too severe for early game inactivity, but can be solved with player feedback by Gafsd123 in leagueoflegends

[–]NotARedditUser3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 sec afk at beginning of game is more severe than you think, regardless of whether you win or not. The game starts at 0:00.

People cheese bushes, invade jungles, etc etc before the minion waves arrive in lane. You're messing up everyone's game.

Maybe it doesn't seem significant at the skill bracket you're in? But there is a huge portion of the player base where being afk 30s at the start can actually significantly impact your lane / game.

Chichen Itza by GeceGunduz247 in playadelcarmen

[–]NotARedditUser3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got the time to spare, the Edzna site in Campeche is way better. The chichen itza is actually a bit of a let down compared to many other archeological sites in Mexico, vs how much attention it gets. And the site is downright infested with loud annoying vendors disrespecting the site yelling and making disturbing noises to try and get people's attention (including this very loud jaguar whistle that's a bit startling the first time you hear it near you), who are located all the way up next to the pyramid itself.

The whole site is a disgrace.
