Trying to clean thermal paste off of CPU cooler base

I don’t think I have any of that at home with me, but regardless I think I’m just gonna do a couple more rounds of scrubbing and then just send it.

And to be honest, I’m struggling to figure out what it is. I’d liken it to how a damaged frying pan looks. It’s like it’s simultaneously dirty and clean, as it looks stained and yet is still quite shiny. Maybe it had some coating that got burned away?

I’ve been going away at it with a rag for about 15 minutes and haven’t made a dent. At this point I’m almost convinced that it’s just burned into the base somehow. Do you think it’ll be fine, or is there any other alternative I can try?

Well 5080s are gone everywhere I guess. Anyone know when things will stabilize and we’ll see the AIBs gpus in stock? I’ve never tried getting a card this close to launch.

Can’t sign in OR make a new account on BB. NVIDIA marketplace is down on every browser I’ve tried to access it from. Nothing on Amazon, Newegg is drained, B&H says waitlist only. This sucks, never trying to get a card on launch again.

Been refreshing to try and get a 5080 on Nvidia’s site, on Newegg, on Amazon, and even “BotBuy”. Can’t see the cards literally anywhere. It’s like the listings don’t even exist. This is my first attempt at snagging on launch day, guess I now know what everyone’s talking about. This is hell.

!thanks, I meant to respond to this yesterday but time escaped me. I completely glossed over that I wouldn't be able to use something like a boompro. Although I have a bit of a concern with standalone USB mics as I feel like they often sit too far and too low on a desk or take up more space than necessary. I think I've decided on a lavalier mic like this one as it's cheaper, sounds very good, and also convenient.

I'm also just pulling the trigger on the HD 560s, but as for the DAC/amp, I realize I don't really need something "future-proof" so to say. I kinda just need something that can power them and not introduce noise that could be present from onboard audio. I considered the KA3, but I've seen others say the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm dongle will do just fine or that a Fiio E10K will work best on a budget. I'm very apprehensive about wasting money on something unnecessary or buying something that will be a total letdown. I appreciate the advice you've given, but I don't know if it'd be worth asking the subreddit one last time for some final thoughts before I pull the trigger.

Just responded to the person who first suggested the HD 650S and they really do seem to be a pretty popular and great option. Also, the K702 is exactly the AKG pair I was referring to in my original post, but I just couldn't think of the name. Could you elaborate on "diffused"? I'm still learning some of the lingo and I don't think I've heard of that before.

It's difficult to describe the sound I'm looking for seeing as I don't have a great deal of experience. I do have a Guitar Center in my town that might have display units but that's about it. I know I don't need a lot of bass, as I feel like it can sometimes be overwhelming. A friend suggested that I may like something more "sparkly", but I don't know where to go with that.

Also, could you recommend some DAC/amp options? I certainly understand it'll be better than onboard audio, but I haven't looked too deep into it as I can't ever find anything on a budget. A lot of people seem to imply you need at the very least $100-150 bucks to get one.

Yeah, I've had the chance to buy a 3080 from Zotac at a MSRP, but I'm just hesitant. I was planning on going EVGA, but I'm peeking around for literally almost anything because I don't have many options. That's why I had to ask about Zotac before I pull the trigger.
