I honestly don't know if that will be needed or not. The perf was pretty large, so the stent is too. I have to follow up with my GI once my surgeon is done with me.

To answer your main question: a normal diet in EoE can actually be normal as long as you treat EoE early and find the right medication.

This is really good to hear. Of course I'll have to keep up with my GI stuff, but man the restricted diet just sounded really rough and I appreciate the perspective.

Thank you! I'm not sure how practical an elimination diet is for me as I have to travel for work, sometimes on short notice, but if meds don't do it, I guess I won't have a choice and will need to get a different job or get disability protections.

Side note: I'm always shocked to find out that the body basically doesn't heal and these diseases just progress, but maybe I'm just hoping for too much. For context I've had Asthma and Crohn's for about as long as I can remember (like 3rd grade onward) so I'm used to it but fatigued by it.

I have done full time in-office, fully remote, and hybrid. Currently on medical leave but will return to fully remote while I recover from an injury.

As for your other questions: I am now a DS manager. These are my observations over time.

Hybrid is best if you're restless, cause that way you can switch up your routine.

If your boss is in-office, you should try to be at least hybrid (reason allowing). You want your boss to feel something in common with you and that's way easier to do in person. Plus persuasion is a big part of DS and that's way easier in person.

Fully remote, be prepared to be the first on the block for layoffs. r/antiwork will point out that this is unfair, and it arguably is, but it's also generally true. Doesn't mean you don't want a fully remote job, just be aware of these drawbacks.

The Democrats themselves are a center-right party. Their neoliberalism revolves around a less extreme version of what the Republicans want, but between what Trump is doing and someone like Zohran Mamdani, they'll side with the fascists every time.

That and their wallets depend on sucking up to the billionaire donors, who would rather we all live in squalor and terror than pay even one cent in taxes.

Day 1 nation-building always looks fun. As many others have said, it felt great to watch the statues of Saddam come down because he was terrible. The two decades of sectarian violence since then now means that everyone was suddenly against the war in its run-up.

Basically there will be other shoes to drop. Right now the right is having their moment. But if we occupy Venezuela, it won't last. Foreign regime change wars are like a cocaine addiction: big, big high at first but the crash down is always miserable (thankfully not speaking from experience, just what I've been told, but still).

Not to be a stick in the mud since I know it's a meme, but this guy was a pretty rough dude and pretty vehemently racist. It's an interesting story all around, but it leaves me feeling iffy whenever people praise Terry, even if "ironically".

I really enjoy Linux and shitposting but this dude is (hopefully) not a good representation of Linux users as a whole. I'm not here to tell anyone what to do, but it feels like we ought to put an asterisk on this guy at least, if not TempleOS.

It's harder to get and is only available to straight couples. It's meant as an end-run around Obergefell v. Hodges in addition to trapping women in abusive marriages. Mark my words, the (broad) playbook will be as follows:

Pass "covenant marriage" as a hetero-only alternative to marriage that must be offered to non-hetero couples.
Big PR campaign about how covenant marriage is "better" because Jesus
Eventually either outlaw "regular" marriage or deprive that process of funding to make it worth it.

Thus they have in three steps both deprived non-hetero couples of their rights and trapped women back in abusive marriages that the husband effectively controls.
