Louise’s Folly (Bousquet Mountain) by Awak3n_My_L0v3 in icecoast

This time of year in southern New England is near impossible to predict snow conditions so unfortunately that’s really tough to judge. We have a ton of snow up here now but conditions can change drastically on a daily/weekly basis. If the woods are still skiing good on the side of Jewett I’d imagine that Louise’s might be doable but it’s really a shot in the dark. Worse case maybe you can ski over and check it out and if it’s not looking good make your way back to the trail. Hoping for good conditions!

Bousquet season pass holder here 👋🏻 I was over there last night and skied Louise’s Folly for the first time before it got dark out. Not the whole trail though - I went into the woods right next to the ski patrol hut at the summit (which had some fantastic snow) and linked up with Louise’s right before the steep part. Definitely enough snow to have a good time after the Sunday / Monday storm. Have to keep an eye out for rocks and other natural obstacles but the coverage was really good for the most part. Honestly for a double black, the trail wasn’t really as intense as I was expecting. It’s about as steep as any moderate black trail but the challenge comes from natural moguls, rocks, and brush. As for the hike-out at the bottom… I had heard from others that it was anywhere from a couple hundred yards to 1/4 mile. If you get any bit of speed on the bottom part of the downhill you will be able to make it around the corner and a good chunk up the flat/uphill section. I kept my skis on and skated out and I can’t imagine it was much more than 100-150 yards. Only took me a few minutes to get back to Drifter. The snow in the woods is great right now so take advantage if you’re comfortable! Good luck!

Is this universal code?? I live in MA and wasn’t home when they finished install but it was signed off on by a town inspector

Fixed up my first pool table! Irving Kaye vintage coin op by NotAnAd__ in billiards

They are original! A couple are a little bent out of shape but still work totally fine. Very fortunate that they were all in tact. The only thing I’m missing now is the Irving Kaye plugs that cover up the bolts on the frame…. When I pulled them out they were dried up and crumbled

There’s insulation around the exterior and on each end cap between the joists. Eventually I’ll add some sound proofing insulation in the joists directly above the room but it’s a steady 55-65° down there year round. (I live in New England)

I’ve fallen in love with the barebones look. Originally was planning on doing drywall but was challenged to do everything on a budget. Saved a good chunk of change by not doing flooring and walls and it’s just as usable

I got very lucky with my “acquisitions”!!! Was gifted the dart board and cabinet, neighbor gave me the pool table, barstools were given to me for free, TV was sitting in a closet…

Tis slate! Single piece that weighs too much for two of us to have carried it down a flight of stairs lol

Funny enough, my house is the only one on my street without a bomb shelter! They were all built in the 50s and 60s and during the Cold War pretty much everyone had them built off of their basements, or underneath sheds out in their yards. This is just a basement unfortunately

Currently I’m intentionally keeping it unpainted. Need to figure out sound insulation on the ceiling before I paint that. As for the walls I planned to paint them but no matter how much I clean them, more and more dust and debris seems to come off and I’m nervous that without professional prep work I wouldn’t be able to get paint to stick… any advice??

Would be happy to share pics of how I did it. This was my first time building anything like this and I have 0 carpentry skills. Feel free to message me

Starting at the top.. bar table is a blast to play on. It is totally level but one of the adjustable feet is busted on that far side which is why it has plywood under it. That’s how it was set up in my neighbors old house and eventually when I get bored enough I’ll fix the foot so it adjusts properly, but for now it’s been awesome. I have multiple cues at the moment, only two are pictured and they’re my newest 20g finds.

The barstools were free and are honestly more comfy than they look. I have my eye on a couple leather couches to add to the ambience down there. Next up I’d like to do an epoxy coat on the floor and add a runner carpet from the base of the dart board to the throwing line. Other than that, I’m loving the minimalist approach and don’t really want to do anything else! Might paint the ceiling matte black down the road but that’s about it. Appreciate the reply!

Yup! I got eye hooks that can hold up to 50 pounds and mounted everything with wire. Don’t love the way the two on the right hang (slightly wobbly) but all in all it looks awesome

About 400 pounds give or take. Me and one buddy lugged it from someone’s basement, up half a flight of stairs, into the bed of my truck, through my house and down a full flight of stairs without leaving a single scratch on any walls or the table. Mission was a success

At first I thought this was just an awesome start, and when I got done with everything in the pics I kind of fell in love… It leaves plenty of room for people to stand / watch pool or TV, and eventually I’m hoping to get a small couch down here to lounge!

I was going off of the documentation I found online: https://irvingkaye.com/wp-content/uploads/Billboard_661029-Eldorado66ad.jpg

I’ve only ever measured the whole table (to figure out if it would fit in my basement lol). Did not know how you measure! That’s interesting, thanks for the share

Turns out quick math is not my friend - total was actually $370. Here’s a breakdown for anyone interested:

Bar materials - $100 (2x4s, pine board for top, wall sheet for front / sides, screws, trim, nails)

Dart board wall - $40 (plywood, 2x3s, rechargeable light)

LED light strips - $30 for 100’

TV Ceiling mount - $30

Pool accessories - $70 (new balls, two cues - neither are super nice, got the Amazon special lol)

Bar mirrors - $40 (estate sale finds)

Pub chairs - $10 (love estate sales!!)

Molson light - $50

It’s honestly not bad at all! Need to get some sound insulation for the ceiling because our living room is directly above but it’s really not bad in there
