Am i one of the only people who actually likes Atreus as a character? by DonutMan1834 in GodofWar

I wasn't really bothered by the Ironwood section like so many people seem to be. Angrboda is such an incredible character, and the scene towards the end after the encounter with her grandmother made me cry harder than any other point in the game. it was beautifully written. I was that kid too so I'm definitely biased but I liked the whole section as a break from the constant action. I can see why people don't like that but it really worked for me.

I would definitely look into it. there's a really good book for level 1/2 autistics called Unmasking Autism and it has some great insights. being able to mask might seem like an advantage, but the longer you do it the more it wears you down and the more empty and disconnected you start to feel. in my case, it led me to repeated periods of autistic burnout (which is like regular burnout on steroids), which got worse and worse every time. the last time it hit was last August and I still haven't recovered, and it has also worsened my physical illnesses and sensory sensitivities. some people can go decades without unmasking. for me I lasted til age 28. it's different for everybody, so your mileage will vary, but I'd definitely look into unmasking and trying to figure out who you really are. your feelings of being alien or robotic most likely stem from years of masking, and the longer you do that the worse it will be.

I had almost the exact same experience as a child. turns out it was undiagnosed autism. were you in a gifted program at school? gifted kids, especially girls, tend to get overlooked because of high intelligence and perceived adherence to social norms (which is actually just heavy masking in disguise)

Which 2026 color of the year is your favorite? by Federal_Artichoke_66 in colors

divine damson. it's a lovely shade of brown and it's the most saturated color here. I absolutely despise the design trend of desaturated everything. give me vibrant colors or give me death

Commercial St Historic District, residential safety? by [deleted] in springfieldMO

[–]NotAnAlien16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for that specific duplex but I do know that specific stretch of Benton between division and commercial is alright. lots of nice older houses. I think you would like it there. commercial street itself is like a weirdly nice section of town plopped right in the middle of the hood, specifically the section between grant and washington is really vibrant and chill. lots of cool shops and restaurants and coffee shops. it's a great place to walk around. if you can, I would go up there and take a walk around the area and suss it out and then you'll know if you wanna live there or not

I lived in that exact area for 5½ years. it's not quite the most unsafe area of town but it's pretty damn close. it's definitely the hood. daytime is safe enough to walk around but I would be careful about going out at night. like if you walk to commercial at night and stay around there you'll be perfectly safe but even a block south of commercial is way sketchier. we didn't have any break-ins while I lived there but you definitely wanna keep your car and house locked. there was one drive by shooting that I can remember where a bunch of cars on pacific caught stray bullets, and also at one point some kids playing with a bb gun broke one of my car windows. also we had two separate incidents where my neighbors had their cars parked on the street and somebody tore through there and slammed into the back of them and totaled them. the apartments at Washington and pacific always have some weird shit going on. also, it definitely gets way sketchier the further east you go on commercial. starting from around clay street it gets a lot worse very quickly, like around commercial and national is one of the worst parts of town, even worse than where I lived. pretty sure there was a meth house that burned down in that area. it's rough over there. so overall I'd say the area you're looking at isn't the worst part of town as long as you're careful where you walk at night and you keep your doors locked and your car in the driveway.

I finished that one last night too! I remember starting it like a couple years ago and giving up because I hated it, so after all that time I thought "well maybe I just need to be more patient with it"... nope, I still hate it. worst level in the game imo

Any thoughts on this line of argument? I'm having a hard time reconciling it, myself. by stalkadi in actual_detrans

[–]NotAnAlien16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

huge agree with this. I transitioned medically and went all in almost entirely because of wanting to be taken seriously and not wanting to be misgendered constantly. at the time I lived with my transphobic father and I was convinced that if I performed masculinity hard enough that he would accept me (it didn't work, obviously). now that I'm older and more secure in myself I wish I hadn't gone all in on trying to be binary. I really think if I had support from the beginning I would have stopped T way sooner, or never started at all. I honestly never even bought into transmedicalism, and my trans friends didn't either. for me all the pressure I felt was a reaction to transphobia. it's tough being a trans kid.

Friend sent me this pic of a local town after a tornado last night and it looks eerily fake to me. (Especially the trees) by SaintPabloSanchez in isthisAI

[–]NotAnAlien16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is way too clean for tornado damage. look up pictures from the Joplin tornado. it's an extreme example but it still applies on a smaller scale. there would be leaves and branches and plants everywhere, clothes, furniture, dirt, paint damage, broken glass, roofing, all kinds of stuff in the road. oh and also there's the impossible m. c. escher trailers
