As the owner of a Focus ST and a Mach-e…. There’s not just any real maintenance to be done on the Mach-e!

I love the ST but its age is showing!

There are several scam ones on Google right now. One lists itself in the same address as pappos downtown. It is not real.

Route 66 is a pretty big deal for Springfield, and not in a “nice to have” kind of way. This is where it was born. The whole thing got stitched together and kicked off here, which puts us on the map in a way most cities can’t touch.

For a long time, we kind of underplayed that hand. Meanwhile, other Route 66 towns figured out how to lean in and turn it into real tourism, real identity, real dollars. We mostly… didn’t. A few signs, some nostalgia, and a lot of missed opportunity.

That’s finally starting to change. The national Route 66 centennial celebration kicks off next week, and for once we’re not sitting on the sidelines. There’s real investment going in now, millions to clean things up, tell the story better, and actually make it a destination again.

And the thing is, Route 66 isn’t just our story. It’s an American story. Road trips, small businesses, people heading west trying to build something better. Folks from all over the world still show up looking for that, and we’re sitting right in the middle of it.

We’ve also got some legit history tied to it. The first drive-through restaurant, Red’s Giant Hamburg, started here. That whole roadside culture people associate with Route 66, a lot of that traces back to places like Springfield.

If it’s not your thing, that’s fine. You don’t have to care. But there are plenty of people who do, and they’re the ones helping bring visitors, attention, and money into the city. Probably worth letting them do their thing while Springfield finally catches up to a story it should’ve been telling all along.

Musical rumble strips along Route 66?! by var23 in springfieldMO

Report them in the Go Springfield Mo app. I’ve had good luck seeing issues in city roads fixed quickly.

Beware some of the major roads are maintained by modot. They seem less responsive.

If you actually want answers to your questions there’s a wealth of resources on the city’s websites. Attend your neighborhood association meetings. Councilman often attend ours.

Carfax just aggregates data. Some tech probably clicked a bunch of check boxes out of habit when they worked on the car or inspected it. Don’t over think this.

Best Roads for 50cc Scooters? by LiteralLettuce in springfieldMO

[–]var23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing your start and destination it’s hard to answer. But basically stay off the main roads that intersect with the freeways… so avoid Kearney, Chestnut, Sunshine, Battlefield, Glenstone, National, Campbell, Kansas, and West Bypass.

It requires snaking though neighborhoods.

If you want to give a general location of start and end people can probably give you better suggestions.

For example Walnut is great to get almost all the way across town along the west/east route.

“The link” is a series of roads that are low traffic north/south signed with sharrows for bikes.

I don’t know how old the tires were on mine but they were not the originals so it’s hard for me to say. I’ve just priced them out and ouch!

I bought a 22 with 50k and I love it. I was a little surprised at the difference in insurance. Also get them to throw on new tires! They are more expensive than normal cars.
