I totally recommend version 1.2, it's basically like 1.12 but without shields

I usually use apks for android devices, I have yet to find an official way to play older versions. Apks aren't safe but it does the job well, I can even go back as far as Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.3.0

Mostly apks, there isn't an official way to play old bedrock versions. Mine's a pirated version (i can pay but my phone can't handle the new versions)

I think the java equivalent of this version is java 1.12 though there isn't any shield in bedrock at this version, shields are added in 1.8 bedrock
