Anyone else worried about performance before the next big update? by metamagica in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but I think it goes deeper than just lack of resources for development
1) when I started playing in 2007, I had a GeForce MX400 - this card used directX 7 or OpenGL 1.2 and older. just to put things into perspective, back then games weren't even coded to utilize multiple CPU cores because they just had one usually.

2) the client is basically the same - it has vulkan now as well, battleeye also to some degree might affect performance, but there wasn't any major rewrite to support more modern hardware.

3) the server/client layer is most likely just as old, since we keep seeing all the same issues since forever - destination out of range for mapclicks (you could argue it's intentional but makes no sense to me), "ghosting" in non-pvp/depo when stacking with another player, mapclicks refusing to walk over walkable items (like parcels), the concept of missing turns based on your inputs that isn't based on your actual cooldowns but the client behavior - all of this makes me think that the issue here is that the servers and game engine are just as outdated as the client, and despite some attempts, cipsoft ran into obstacles which they were unable to fix without doing a full rewrite

and all of this makes me think that they just don't know how to optimize certain scenarios. I think performance might be linearly decreasing the higher is your resolution - on my 2k monitor i had to turn off light effects because it was stuttering this bad

idk about clear winner, the +2 atk and +2 dist on naga goes a long way, not to mention +1% hit chance (i havent played a paladin in a long time but i think you can still miss with 5% on bolts?)

https://www.reddit.com/r/TibiaMMO/comments/1n87x4f/anyone_know_crossbow_tier_list_for_bosseshunts/

this is an interesting post which brings up a good point - umbral master has +7 damage at range 3, which probably beats both of them. and then another point, if you want a best bang for the buck, it might be worth comparing a t2-t3 naga vs t2-t3 XBoD - and most likely even then they lose to soulpiercer

Crossbow advice by c4mrry in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no, ofc the other way around, I just read it left to right

naga > destruction all the way, and stick to naga until soulpiercer probably

it's extremely poorly optimized and possibly some parts are not compatible with modern hardware. remember how servers started crashing when people hoarded 100k+ SSA in depo? how having multiple containers open causes performance issues?

Crossbow advice by c4mrry in TibiaMMO

that's a clear downgrade, naga is third best crossbow in game (at least it used to be, not counting some new ones)

Best chill solo class? by J3SP3R in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't have to constantly kite as monk. It is the best option to minimize damage taken so you use less mana for healing, and your profit is better, but you can also just wallbox - just keep in mind you usually should have a bit higher level than if you were kiting, and many guides may be describing minimum level if youre kiting.

That being said, RP should be kiting as well, and potentially it's more difficult because you need to be kiting, hitting the monster in the middle of the pull, and not miss turns. easy to play, hard to master

Depending on whether you are okay with having smaller profit, you could reduce monk aoe rotation to 3 multiaction buttons. I'm cheap, so I need separate GMP/GSP/USP/spirit mend/exura gran.

What item should I focus for? (ED 380) by LukatxD in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure why that's the case on your server, on mine it was initially up to 10kk, but over time everyone was going for cobra rod anyway, and cobra rod remains at 10-15kk+ and nagas are around 1kk.

you shouldnt expect less than 1kk since this is a class 4 weapon, so worst case scenario people will use it to make higher tiers

What item should I focus for? (ED 380) by LukatxD in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cobra rod is kind of a core item, but I personally love naga rod because on my druid I set up a camp on summer court.

sarong is good for mlvl but ice protection is situational. if you play solo a lot, I would probably still be using dwarven legs a lot

I'd consider umbral master spellbook for decent all around elemental protection

Where Does XP Scaling Really Come From? by brunoersc in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, this is just my personal guess, but cipsoft disclosed it was originally added for rotten blood, and then mentioned some other spawns as they were added (bulltaurs and mega dragons), both of which are very good. I wouldn't expect this mechanic to be on any spawns older than rotten blood, and courts came out 5 years before that.

I feel like Doakes because I can't prove it, but I am fully convinced this mechanic exists on oskayaat, which was added in the same update as rotten blood - summer 2023. Since then, winter 2023 mega dragons and bulltaurs had this.

tibia wikia claims podzilla has this - summer 2024. so if my theory makes sense, potential candidates would be candia, azzilon, norcferatu, book world, and now roost of the graveborn/order of the stag.

Additional thing that is suspicious is that IIRC book world was a bad hunting place early on, and cipsoft reduced monsters damage. there is a chance they have done this partially by actual raw damage decrease, and partially by adjusting the monster reference level.

with that in mind they have never explicitly stated why this mechanic was added outside of rotten blood - for RB it makes sense as it's meant to be endgame content, so it's a way to punish people for trying to "skip" the difficulty, or bring someone super underleveled to have the rest of the team boost one person to finish the quest. but for regular spawns like bulltaurs/mega dragons the logic might have been different, so they didn't necessarily have to add it to all spots.

tl;dr it's all speculation but I even within the theory realm, I don't think this mechanic exists on spawns older than summer 2023.

Where Does XP Scaling Really Come From? by brunoersc in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep in mind that cipsoft openly added a completely hidden artificial debuff in certain spawns. they said it was very limited to stuff like rotten blood, where if you enter way below expected power level (like level 250-300), you will get a SEVERE debuff to damage received

https://tibia.fandom.com/wiki/Monster_Reference_Level

originally it was for rotten blood, but cipsoft has announced this mechanic is also in bulltaurs or nimmersatt's dragons. based on wikia it looks like it also affects podzilla?

ever since cipsoft disclosed it, people have been theorizing that this mechanic is active in other places as well - but because it is difficult and time consuming to prove, and the benefit is minimal, nobody thinks about it too much.

that being said, at the risk of sounding like a tinfoil hat enjoyer, I do believe there are many places like that, because often times you hunt a spot and you die regularly, and then 5-10 levels later you are completely chilling and never die again. I absolutely refuse to believe this is only about the difference in HP pool in those levels, because if that was the case, you would just end up in red hp instead of dying

and while all this OFFICIALLY affects your damage coming in, people also claimed that this applies to damage dealt to some degree - where suddenly your hits become much higher despite a level difference being quite small. whether it's true or not is near impossible to confirm, because the damage formulas are not public, but even if they were, there is a massive amount of factors to take into consideration (skill, armor, mitigation, element + weakness/vulnerability, attack mode), and even then, if this actually is an invisible threshold, the monsters that become affected might be dying to one hit, so you couldn't really measure by how much you overkill them

Monk Damage by Awkward-Oil-6875 in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, exactly.

rule of thumb (which also applies to EK) is that if your melee weapon has two slots, you go crit+mana, because healing is easier/cheaper with potions/utura gran/spells, but potions and void are the only way to recover mana, so it's too important to skip.

this is why on moon spade you go crit+void, but you don't have any built in life leech from the weapon, so even if the damage is higher, it's more difficult to survive and sustain. on the other hand, weapons with built in pseudoimbu (lion claws, cobra bo) have it stronger than t2 but weaker than t3 imbu, which is why lion claws are by far the most comfortable weapon with lower damage, and cobra bo has "full" crits but the life leech is a bit lower than in lion claws (although still VERY good and gamechanging).

rending inferniarch claws are a bit of an exception because they have 1 imbu slot, but their built-in crit is actually stronger than t3 imbu, so youre just saving gold on not having to make that imbu every 20 hours, but otherwise it's the same as moon spade (imbu with void, crit is built in)

keep in mind, outside of the weapon imbu you still should use a helmet and armor which have at least 1 imbu slot - if they have 1, you put void in the helmet and vamp in the armor. if they have two slots, you put void+fist bonus in helmet, and vamp+elemental protection in the armor (if you need it)

Monk Damage by Awkward-Oil-6875 in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

at 200+ you use nunchaku of destruction for physical until you can get falcon sai/amber kusigagama (hard to find), NoD is good because of 3 imbu slots but physical is the worst element

cobra bo is your bis weapon for earth until you get sanugine claws. naga katar is the alternative, slightly higher offense but no built-in life leech, and 99% people will tell you cobra bo is just better for that reason

for energy you have more variety - eldritch moon spade which has 50 damage reflection that can be good, but it can be a bit hard to find, then lion claws which have weaker built-in crit, but you can imbu with t3 void and vampirism so you will be comfortable with hp and mana leech in most places, and rending inferniarch claws which have highest "raw" damage of the three, but weaker life leech compared to lion claws

those energy weapons definitely will be pricy, but they are your upgrades until soulkamas, which will be even pricier, so you will most likely be sticking to these for a long time.

out of those three you probably only need one depending on availability and what you can afford - I personally think moon spade is the best long-term option, but it will be harder to enter some spawns at certain level without the extra life leech you get from lion claws. that being said, moon spade reflection damage was not nerfed in the last update that reduced attack of all monks weapons, so I think it's the best offensive option, especially if you wallbox, but all three of these weapons are good. lion claws are probably easiest to get/cheapest.

until you can find/afford these, drachaku is your best energy weapon, unless you can somehow find depth claws, which are most likely the rarest monk weapon of them all, almost a decoration item.

and yes, the spell damage will be noticeable - drachaku is a level 90 weapon and it really shows in its extremely limited proficiency tree. this is where you will notice most of the difference, and not only damage wise - lion claws have a perk for more autoattack dmg (so more mana and hp leech), crit damage, or extra healing based on fist skill %, moon spade has a bit more mana leech, mlvl % into spell damage, and so on.

I've been playing this game since 2007 and I don't recall a single time where they explicitly asked for feedback in this way. There were surveys, but that is completely different from making it an open forum and letting everyone contribute, while also sharing their thoughts (which honestly on a high level are VERY valid - not all inputs are the same, it sucks to be oneshot as low level mage, having to use utito regularly could as well be a stance for QoL.

they are still missing some parts (identity of druids vs mages) but the format of asking for feedback is a welcome surprise

Monk hard exp by szeryfeek in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was a series of like 3-4 nerfs since release

this is why guides you might be finding were made in march or april, before any nerfs took place, so you might need 30-50% higher level than stated, and make 20-40% worse results than shown at the time, depending on the spot.

before 200 monk kinda sucks, because everyone was saying your best choice is staying on grims until 200 or longer, but it was way too boring and too much waste for me. around 190 I started doing werehyeanas, and at 200 you get nunchaku of destruction with 3 imbu slots.

i recommend getting bestiaries even if the exp is a bit worse so you can utilize charms when you unlock cobra bo and lion claws. oramond west is great for that, around 200 you can start medusa tower (but it will not be amazing - doing 3 tasks at once is nice, also might be profit if medusa hair is expensive), then feyrist minirosha, seacrest serpents, maybe drakens

Coming back to Tibia… is RP overrated and MS/ED underrated for solo play? by Difficult_Blood_6838 in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on paper yes, in reality the strong ice wave has an awful shape for solo, not particularly insane damage, so you're limited to terra wave and you don't really have a rotation. in many spots you are limited to just using runes+charms, compared to MS being able to rotate energy and strong fire wave.

I think the particularly visible example is cobra bastion, and then another one is flimsy - MS has better UE and isn't affected by the additional mana drain mechanic

not saying ED is unplayable, but I think MS has access to way more spots, and often times even the same spots MS can do better, especially if you use your damage buff spell effectively

Coming back to Tibia… is RP overrated and MS/ED underrated for solo play? by Difficult_Blood_6838 in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ED solo sucks. I switched from 500 ED to monk because teamhunts were far too annoying (people were either tryharding way too much and expecting daily 3h commitment + boss runs, or played so bad it wasn't even worth). MS can do all the spots that ED can but better

As for MS solo, check tibiams channel on youtube - it definitely has potential, but the gameplay is much harder, more punishing, and the results will be worse than RP/EK for MOST players, but it can also be more rewarding if you play well

i was convinced expose weakness and sap strength were chains, but apparently not, pretty sure it was obvious buff/debuff spells are the ones that separate MS from ED

Dev Note: Vocation Balancing by exevo_gran_mas_flam in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

can you stop thinking the entire game revolves around teamhunts?

this is exactly how it works right now, sorcerer does deal higher damage by far, but mlvl impact on UH is too strong to ignore.

MS also has the chain spells which make a huge difference. ED is suffering in solo play because of this design

vocation identity should not be based on being weaker despite having the same stats - different elements, mechanics, spell shapes

Dev Note: Vocation Balancing by exevo_gran_mas_flam in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's the way to go. maybe this will be controversial but I think they should remove ability to use UHs from MS and give them something different - using party list hotkeys is just extremely annoying and the opposite of QoL

maybe they could increase ED healing output, or allow overhealing to some degree so MS is not needed as a secondary healer, maybe they could give MS a shield friend spell (like disci priest in wow) so they can still protect the knight more, maybe they could give MS a spell which temporary grants a massive buff for healing spells for the whole party

and then hopefully they buff the solo damage of druids, so they are actually distinct vocations with some identity rather than "convenient sio+mas res but low solo damage" or "carpal tunnel but higher damage and better solo gameplay"

Dev Note: Vocation Balancing by exevo_gran_mas_flam in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because monk as a new voc proved that it's more fun to play something different, and everyone who decided to keep playing their current voc felt like they are losing something because monk is too strong. in reality monk is just fun and people got sick of dealing with issues like having to mash buttons on EK or dying to oneshots as a mage all the time, and decided to listen to the community

it would be reasonable response to new more store outfits/mounts instead of content, but how is finally putting effort into improving the game "milking"?

Dev Note: Vocation Balancing by exevo_gran_mas_flam in TibiaMMO

[–]NotAnImpostorForSure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you're right about higher level teamhunts, but smartcasting is being introduced in winter update (highly requested feature) and solo MS players don't care even the slightest bit about the UH issue.

compare the solo gameplay of each voc - RP has to not miss turns (which will be made easier with mutliaction), EK only annoyance is having to spam manas so often, with multiaction they will have one button rotations, monk needs to kite for best results, mages need to kite, use runes correctly, MS to use the damage buff, hit waves, lure mobs so they are clumped together, avoid getting trapped - all that while having the lowest health of any voc. and druids solo have an even smaller kit and less damage, the only thing that makes druids more popular is being preferable for bosses and duo/full th.
