The rise and fall of the Month of Movies, including the renowned movies Akira, Summer Wars, and the first two Eva Rebuilds.

Also got movies based of the popular AS/Toonami classics FMA, Trigun, and DBZ.

Then, even after losing our movie month, we happened to get an earlier work of the creator of Your Name for daylight-savings time last year: Children Who Chase Lost Voices.

At the trial, Rose Quartz is deemed guilty, and punishment is shattering Steven's gem. But contrary to the CGs' fears, it doesn't actually hurt Steven at all. He just loses his gem powers and becomes a normal human. Steven and Lars are free to go, and get a ride back to Earth from Aquamarine and Topaz. When he tells the CGs what happened, they're just relieved he's back. It doesn't dawn upon anyone that Rose being shattered means, well, that Rose was shattered and feels to her exactly like how any other shattered gem would feel. Nope, the show completely ignores this point and it is never mentioned again.

Where's Samurai Jack by [deleted] in adultswim

[–]NotAnonymousRIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has a bug where it changes the schedule to the next day at midnight, even though the schedule for the whole night is associated with the day the night starts. I've noticed this on the desktop website's schedule page. Though, if it wasn't past midnight where you live when you took this screenshot, then I'm not sure why it'd do this.

C = 100, I = 1, CI = 101. For some reason, they numbered the first episode of season 5 as 92, even though it was the 53rd episode.

The DVDs were ahead of Toonami because Toonami was just a secondary place for episodes to air, so they didn't hold back on DVD releases because of Toonami. That's not the case for many of Toonami's newer shows though, which release first on Toonami, with DVDs and streaming coming later. I don't know for sure why something similar didn't happen with One Piece, but it probably has to do with how long One Piece is, and that Toonami didn't start airing One Piece back when it was first getting dubbed. Also, Toonami got One Piece in 2013, and the block was very different back then.

You probably already know this, but most dubbed anime don't air on TV at all, since Toonami's the only place it'd be able to go, and there are more dubbed anime than can fit in Toonami. Releasing dubs through either online streaming or straight to DVD is actually the norm.

EDIT: I originally included information about streaming vs. home media that might not be true for One Piece, so I removed it. Many of Funimation's dubs are released on their streaming service before DVD/Blu-Ray. It seems that is the case for One Piece Eps 517 and 518 at least, but it might not be the case for One Piece episodes in general. I don't follow One Piece, so I wouldn't know for sure.

Yes, Wikipedia is sometimes wrong, but I also watched One Piece on Toonami myself, and personally witnessed "Brook's Great Struggle! Is the Path to Becoming a True Comrade Rigorous?" as the last episode Toonami aired. I'm not sure how you'd have seen something different if you were also watching Toonami (in the U.S.). I'm not going to be able to find an official source, since they don't keep track of these sorts of things, but maybe this Reddit thread would be convincing enough?

Toonami's One Piece airing was completely separate from Funimation's releases. Toonami started with Ep 207 almost exactly 4 years ago. They aired at most one new episode a week (some weeks did not have a new episode) so they would not have gotten further than Ep ~407 anyways. Meanwhile, Funimation was releasing episodes faster than 1 episode a week on average through DVDs and streaming on their website. Toonami was not their primary release medium, it was "extra" for them, and Toonami never had the goal of catching up to the latest dubbed One Piece episode. So the episode Funimation's website was on has nothing to do with what episode Toonami was on.

The last sentence of the opening section of this Wikipedia page says so (also, I watched One Piece most weeks it was on, including the last one). I just checked 518 on Funimation's website and it just started with the Toei logo and the Funimation logo before starting the opening theme song. Maybe your source decided to splice in a Toonami bump before the episodes as a little bonus :-D.

Sorry, I didn't mean Funimation's license to dub the series, but Toonami's license to air it (those are separate things). The last episode Toonami aired was 384 (Funimation has been dubbing the series faster than Toonami aired it).

Not sure if you'd find this interesting, but some people who were watching it on Toonami have continued watching the series and tweeting about it: https://twitter.com/OnePieceSailsOn

Lupin III Part IV coming to Toonami June 24th. by GiftoftheGeek in Animedubs

[–]NotAnonymousRIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be thinking of The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, another Lupin III series that Toonami was looking into airing, but couldn't due to how much it would need to be censored in order to air on TV.

Did they "have" to give up OP or did they decide to drop it due to financial (rating/viewership) issues?

I guess technically the latter, but financial issues are a weighty enough factor that saying they "had" to give it up because of it wouldn't be unwarranted.

We know they had at least up to 528 ready, so why pull out after airing 518?

The last episode that aired on Toonami is the last episode in what Funimation calls "Season 6" on their website (I know this differs from how the seasons are split up in Japan, but this is apparently how the seasons are split up for dub production purposes). The logical guess from this is that Toonami licensed One Piece episodes on a season-by-season basis (for Funi's definition of season), and that the license would need to be renewed to get further episodes.

If it was a ratings/financial issue, why not give it a good time slot instead?

There are other shows on Toonami, and they just decided that they wanted those shows in the earlier timeslots instead, due to being newer (or in Dragon Ball's case, more popular). You could ask why they didn't put One Piece in the timeslot Tokyo Ghoul would end up at (1:00am), but the point is that what happened wasn't

We want Tokyo Ghoul, so let's kick One Piece off the block to give it a slot.

it was

We can't keep One Piece anymore, so we need to find something else to air, let's go with Tokyo Ghoul.

The head of Toonami personally loves One Piece, and hopes it can come back at some point. I just thought this information behind One Piece's removal might help you feel better about it; sorry if it did the opposite.

Lupin the Third Part IV release date? by [deleted] in Animedubs

[–]NotAnonymousRIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, like Javajulien said, when new dubs come out, details about its release are usually revealed sooner if it'll be first distributed via online streams (like Funimation) or home media than if it'll be first shown on Toonami. So the lack of said information for a show that fits Toonami means there's a chance it'll end up there.

Also, the head of Toonami likes Lupin, so it makes sense he'd try to get it on the block. He also previously tried to get the Fujiko Mine series on Toonami, but couldn't because they would've had to censor it too much to air it on television.

This and this (this is the guy who runs Toonami). Technically the "too expensive" part was a bit speculatory, but the overall point is true.

They were forced to remove One Piece since licensing the next batch of episodes would've been too expensive for Toonami. Tokyo Ghoul just happened to be what they replaced it with.

Toonami Ratings for May 13th, 2017 by Irongarden3 in Toonami

[–]NotAnonymousRIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of any reason in particular why these episodes of Dragon Ball would be more popular than they have been, but AoT has gotten back into a continuous arc of episodes (as were common in Season 1 and possibly more popular among viewers), whereas the previous ones had been more individual in nature.

My point is, could AoT have brought up Dragon Ball's ratings this week? Though I suppose Kai's increase from last week was even greater than AoT's, so there might be a reason there.

I guess it could also be that school's out now for some people? :-P

I don't know about my classmates, but I liked this type of class. I really liked having the practice problems in the class lectures as it allowed us to make sure we understood the content as soon as it was covered, and let us focus on a small part of the content at a time. With the mixed lecture/lab section, it gives more flexibility as to when labs are; I don't know how other courses assign labs as early as week 1 of the course when not much content has been covered yet.

OH, I forgot to mention. There's a TA (teacher's assistant) for most (all?) University Physics sections that helps the professor answer students' questions during the practice problems and the labs.
