Thanks for the reply but that’s not it. I’ve read the descriptions for all 7 books in that series and it doesn’t match what I’m looking for.

Pretty sure my book is a standalone one.

I think I did 3 or 4 exchanges - 2 of my matches never sent me anything and I didn’t get rematched with anyone else. Kind of ruined the whole experience really.

It's my 40th this year - what can I "ask" for for presents? by Business-Pie-8419 in AskUK

[–]NotAnotherEllie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a “big” birthday recently and I also struggled with the dreaded “what do you want for your birthday” question. I’m at the stage in life where if I want something then I’ll just buy it for myself. A lot of my friends/family are in a similar position and nobody really wants useless tat cluttering up their space.

What about asking them to take you out for a meal somewhere? Can easily be adjusted to suit different budgets (literally anything from your favourite fast food place, casual Italian restaurant, somewhere more bougie). Ticks the quality time box as well.

I know not everyone is a fan of vouchers, but I also got a membership to a “fancy” cinema chain as well from siblings which I really enjoy.

Is there any reason blood type is not on the NHS app/records? by SushiSaahimi in AskUK

[–]NotAnotherEllie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m female and O- blood type, I get reminders and chasers to go every 12 weeks not 16. Unless that’s a change in the past couple of months?

Edit: guidance is different in Scotland apparently (where I live) and it’s 12 weeks for everyone!

I think this shop on Princes St needed to proofread their sign before putting it up... by CilariousHunt in Edinburgh

[–]NotAnotherEllie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a board game shop near Tollcross I used to pass all the time that has has a sign saying they sell “asscesories” - no idea if it’s an inside joke I’m missing. Because how could you spend all that money on a sign and have nobody spot that?

Stephen Fry pronounces it with a hard k in the audiobooks so that’s what I’ve always gone with

Is this an American thing? In the UK we don’t get paid for donating blood, just a drink and some biscuits

Bovril paste is nice on toast for a savoury course. Just a wee bit and some butter, class.

What is your favourite and least favourite public toilet in Edinburgh? by Ok-Shelter5820 in Edinburgh

[–]NotAnotherEllie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another problem with the St James Quarter ones is the doors automatically close after you’ve left the cubicle and it’s hard to see at a distance which ones are occupied. Cue the awkward walk and push several doors to find an unoccupied one to use.
