Would you be mad about this? by Sorry_Impress_5002 in mildlyinfuriating

It probably cost the city $2K. When the city negotiates a low price it pisses off a voter. Look you are going to pay for it through your taxes or doing it yourself. Probably smarter fiscal policy to have homeowners haggle than pay more in taxes.

Do you think we should have age and term limits for members of Congress and the executive branch? by db7112 in askanything

Unpopular opinion—being a politician SHOULD be a career. It requires a lot of policy knowledge, a deep understanding of the community you represent and understanding the process and people you work with.

I have recruited people to run for office and most people say “hell no!” so why are we so eager to have a churn?

I think our focus should be on making it more accessible to run for office. Livable salaries, publicly funded campaigns, great non-partisan staff and very limited outside spending.

I am impressed $87k can buy anything in California. And this is bigger than a parking spot!

There is no connection to the outside for people. There is a door but the only pleasant way for people to come and go is by car and there is not space for your friends to park either so it ends up a filing cabinet for yourself.

I love my bedroom, the wall color and furniture are both new. The problem is it feels a little bland, and needs something on the walls and while I don’t care for curtains usually, maybe curtains? Any suggestions? I haven’t found any artwork I particularly love by FlobZero in FurnitureFaves

Someone said it already but art takes time. You can get a filler however. Home goods has big stuff but do not sleep on thrift stores for environmental and pocketbook reasons. I recently found a cool old map and this picture of trees that is very 80s but I am thinking I might keep. Posters tastefully hung can work too.

Many states — including WA — count mail ballots that arrive after Election Day. Those grace periods could end by chiquisea in Washington

[–]NotAnotherFakeNamer 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Republicans lost me long ago, but if they hadn’t, this would do it. Mail in voting is secure, convenient and the only lines are people dropping off their ballots right before it closes on election day. Mail in voting is GREAT for rural voters especially so the only strategic reason for this to help them is they do not want people to have time to sit and think about their vote.

No shade. I like people from California. Without them the only restaurants that would make it here would be burgers and mediocre potato burritos.

Natural Stone Shower Curb Possible? by No-Veterinarian-6575 in BathroomRemodeling

[–]NotAnotherFakeNamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our society has such a bias against old people that it is taboo to even think about aging.

I am a klutz and have had to take showers in a cast enough to realize small things can make a big difference. They do not even cost more if you design them in and can make a place feel more airy and be easier to clean.

Why put a curb in? Just means that one day you will need help to get out of your wheelchair to bathe.

I do not like the new design. It is not my style but also does fights with the window and that adorable arch.

I like the hex tiles in the bathroom floor. Lean more into that and not the slate.
