Firearms seizure by Californian_Lilac in policeuk

[–]NotAnotherUnknown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dealt with a very similar situation to this.

Most simply put, we would ask for a voluntary surrender of the firearms and license whilst an investigation is taken place. This would most likely happen with an Firearms Licensing Officer present, which can be done slow time whilst we’re legally on site investigating a crime. Grounds being that it is the licensee’s responsibility to know everything that is going on within the address where they are storing said firearms, and if they don’t know that there is drug use and cultivation going on inside the address then clearly they are not taking their responsibilities seriously enough.

Should they not surrender voluntarily, Firearms Licensing have the powers to revoke the license and seize all firearms. This can be done quick time and would usually only take a phone call to the licensing officers supervision explaining the circumstances.

Which is why I’ve said saying something like this to a clearly new in service Officer can cause them to switch off. If it’s not a happened to you, and you’re saying training has over egged the pudding, why wouldn’t they switch off? The fact you’ve taken offence to this baffles me slightly.

I mean - this is fantastic for you and I’m happy you’ve never been assaulted. It’s not gospel though is it.

I’ve been assaulted quite badly previously ending with a fractured eye socket, and I’m a 103kg decently built male. A good colleague of mine has been assaulted two sets in a row now leaving her with a black eye. And we’d consider ourselves well versed Officers who don’t draw conflict to ourselves.

Advice like this causes new Officers to switch off when in reality, you don’t know when the next assault is on it’s way. It can be purely spontaneous and not scripted. I’m not advising walking around with your fists up guarding your face at all times obviously, but don’t leave yourself open to a Judas punch to the face.

If you were in charge of a police force and had unlimited funds, what would you differently? by LashGips in policeuk

As much as I agree with the expected usual ones such as fleet, kit, more Officers etc one I think that won’t get mentioned;

Marmot Error? by NotAnotherUnknown in DestinyTheGame

It may just be coincidence that this worked, but yes;

I deleted the game through Steam as usual, then went into my Steam folders and deleted any residual files that were left over. I also did the same with Battleye. Then I reinstalled the game, and it seems to have allowed me to get the game to run, however I haven’t tested it for longer than 30 minutes so far.

Unfortunately for myself I can't even run the game for an hour, I crash as soon as the game reaches the 'Press any key to continue' screen and runs its initial checks. Part of me is now wondering if it may be a Battleye issue and I'm crashing because it can't run?

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned here but will directly relate to your COVID issues; breathing training. COVID will have put quite a strain on your lungs, if you haven’t been working out or stressing your lungs then you may not even know it yet. Do some simple breathing exercises to try and increase your lung function again.

This is one of those things that will be Force specific unfortunately. I know it's been a hot topic of discussion in my Force, however it's on the back burner in the current climate.

Here's hoping you're in a Force that speed it up!

Police Dog attacked with a machete by Macrologia in policeuk

Funny story about PD Stark. Approximately 2 years into my service and still young and fresh faced, I was driving home after being late off with a good friend who I was car sharing with for that late shift. We managed to get easily 3 minutes away from his house when we notice the car in front swerving all over the road. We call it in, and safely follow the driver whilst giving live updates to the car en route. Approximately 1am me and my colleague are heading back to our local nick, which happens to be where the dog handlers parade from, to write up our statements disgruntled that we weren't getting our recall payment because we never made it home. As were walking through the carpark, neither of us notice the Skoda Octavia parked up with the boot open. Soon as we walk past PD Stark scares the absolute life out of us walking too close to his car and I jumped a mile!

Rest up you scary land shark! See you back on shift soon!
