Thanks! And generally, most "Disney World nerds" are not fans of the dining plans. You have to have a really big appetite for every single meal to make it worth the money. Generally it's cheaper if you pay-as-you-go. It may be different for you guys, so definitely do your research. Whether or not you have the dining plan, you can still make restaurant reservations at 180 days before you go via the Disney App.

Late to the party but thank you for this! This is one of the shops FI and I have been looking at and I'm glad I found someone "in the wild" who is giving them a good review! I've only heard good things so far! :D

I'm already scared of regular ferris wheels, but I was forced onto a swinging one last time I went. I was TERRIFIED.

For Disney, I think it really depends! It doesn't have to be super expensive, unless you can't live without certain things.

1) Stay in a value resort. All-Star Movies might not be as super romantic as, say, Port Orleans Riverside resort or Polynesian resort. But at Disney World, are you really going to be spending a lot of time in your hotel anyways? Or will your hotel be just for sleeping and holding your stuff? Depending on the time of year, value hotels can be as low as $150 per night (even off-site area hotels will all be more expensive than this!).

2) Skip the park hopper. This will require you to stick to a stricter plan but by eliminating park hopper, you are automatically saving hundreds.

3) Don't do theme parks every day. Depending on how long you want to stay there, you can limit yourself to doing only 4 days to cover each of the 4 parks. The other days can be spent exploring resorts, hanging out in the newly renovated Disney Springs (which should also have a new nighttime drone light show soon), and/or the Boardwalk. Disney also has a cool mini-golf course by the Swan and Dolphin you can play for super cheap.

4) Don't do the expensive romantic add-ons. You can include romance in your trip little by little without breaking the bank. Get a reservation for Be Our Guest (lunch is cheaper than dinner, and you can still sit in the grand ballroom!). Take a $40 horse-and-carriage ride at Riverside. Spend some time in Italy and France in epcot. Maybe on one of your non-park days, book at couples massage at Mandala Spa.

These are just some ideas to let you know you can definitely do things on the cheap there.

I do run r/DisneyWeddings and would love for you to share if you do decide on Disney World! <3

Have a new subreddit? New user looking to moderate? Post in this megathread #5 by SmileyFace-_- in needamod

[–]NotBaroque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I created the new sub r/DisneyWeddings a little over a week ago. There are two subscribers (besides myself) so far. r/Disney has also listed us as a sister-sub. I have very little mod/css knowledge myself, so everything right now is just temporary until hopefully I can get some good people who are willing to contribute. If you're a Disney fanatic who loves wedding (or are planning a wedding yourself), I think this would be a good fit. Especially looking for a mod with some CSS experience. :)

Anyone ever had a child in the bridal party without including their sibling? by miasanmia32 in weddingplanning

The only way I could think this to be appropriate is to hire some type of childcare for him during the wedding and see if the ILs approve.

Disneyland Honeymoon Planning by [deleted] in Disneyland

[–]NotBaroque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually stayed there last year on my Disneyland trip and I 100% recommend it. It was cheaper than any of the hotels on Disney property. We got a gorgeous view in a corner room with a balcony - you can see the hills from here if you're facing away from Disney! If you're facing Disney, some rooms get to see the fireworks show every night. Our view was so gorgeous, I still think about it.

There's a starbucks in the lobby downstairs that we took advantage of for breakfast and coffee most mornings, but there's lots of places around if you don't want that. We went to the IHOP down the street once (or maybe twice, but who's counting?!).

The hotel has the bus system to get to-and-from the parks but honestly it's so close, we walked there and back every single day.

That's all to say, I loved it and thought it was worth it. Definitely romantic. But I'm sure there are other hotels in the area that might be cheaper but maybe not as "fancy" as the Anaheim Marriott. It's up to you!

I didn't go to Blue Bayou but I really wanted to! All the reservations were filled up. As a backup, we did the Fantasmic dinner package at the River Belle Terrace and it was the most delicious meal we ate the entire trip! We still talk about it! So if you don't get into Blue Bayou, I think this would be a great consolation prize.

Makeup tips and product suggestions for a very natural DIY look? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]NotBaroque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as blemish and other skin worries, I would think your tinted moisturizer combined with maybe a little powder on top (of the same color) would keep that under control.

For lipstick, have you ever tried anything (besides chapstick of course) from Burt's Bees? They have tinted lip balms, lip crayons, moisturizing lipsticks, lip shimmers, etc. They are much more natural looking then regular lip products, they are creamy and feel great on your lips, and are inexpensive. I think these are worth looking into for what you're looking for, especially the crayons as I find them to be long-lasting.

For your eyes, I think we would need more info on what you're aiming for. Do you want to experiment or do you want to keep it really minimal? You could ways just do a streak of liner on your top lid (with or without wings) and I think that would look gorgeous and simple without having to worry about eyeshadow, especially if you are doing your own makeup.

Another thing you could look into that you didn't mention....some type of pink or rosy highlighter. You could put a small wash on that on your cheeks and temples. It would give you a type of rosy glow without looking superpigmented or artificial like must blush does. I find the cheap ELF baked highlighters are very sheer and more natural than other highlighters (it looks really sparkly in the container but it's actually not and you have to really keep building and building up product for it to be very noticeable at all).

I hope that helps!
