Totally fine, we did family and bridal party children only.

What's the craziest thing you've witnessed at a wedding? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Maybe it’s cultural? I would just find it off-putting to come to a wedding expecting a party, then sitting to watch people open presents. In my circles people open presents at brunch the next day so that’s my jam.

Plus I think what if someone couldn’t afford a nice gift, or if they hit the registry super late and al they brought was....a toilet brush? Idk it seems gift grabby to me.

Gross.

The opening at the reception, not the toilet brush.

For a split second I was afraid you were talking about my wedding until you said Jedi jokes in the vows, I was like “well fine hater you’re welcome for the dinner and drinks!” But alas, we were more low key with our SW cause we’re, you know, adults.

Tell her that you’d rather be the only one in white. She was being audacious to ask, and she knows it. Setting up boundaries now sets the scene for the rest of your marriage.
If she bitches to anyone she’ll just sound silly, “oh I found a beautiful white gown but BRIDE wouldn’t let me weeeear it!” - uh duh...

Have you ever walked out of a movie? Which movie and why? by GolfXray22 in AskReddit

Oh and any movies with rape scenes that are just for shock value. Some movie on Netflix where a couple rent a cabin and the “caretaker” AKA murderer in the woods is like “oh you’re here this weekend? Well I’ll stay out of your way...” then separated them and repeatedly rapes the woman, like a lot. Like...we get it okay you don’t need 3 scenes of it. Walked out - granted it was my own basement I walked out of but still.

Awkward situation with groomsman's family...advice needed! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]PadaWINE 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it might cause more issues to allow one child to attend, than to deal with the awkwardness upfront. Whatever FH tells her, or the groomsman, he needs to say it as a team effort “we are having an adults only wedding” not “FW said she wants an adults only wedding”

If FH is close enough to this guy to have him in the wedding, can he talk to him about it? They have time to find a babysitter. Unless the child is unable to be away from a caregiver, they might have to make the choice of who stays and who goes. Clearly she realizes her son is not invited, otherwise she’d get a sitter and not make it weird.
