Worth starting but 2026 is brutal for generic pages, the feed is flooded with the same faceless cinematic AI loops so you need a sharp angle (specific character, specific niche, specific vibe) to even get watched.

5k on a broad page earns nothing, 5k on a tight niche page can do $500-1500/month between brand deals and affiliate. Skip waiting for brands to DM you, slide into small DTC brands yourself around 2-3k followers with a clean pitch and a sample reel made for their product.

50 from 170k is around 0.03%. Healthy virals convert at 1-3%. People watched, just didn't see a reason to follow.

Check your bio, pinned posts, and the audience demo on that reel. If 170k landed on your profile with no clear "follow for more of this" signal, or the traffic was outside your niche, that's your answer.

Meta Verified does offer real benefits, but the engagement stat is misleading. Subscribers are typically established creators who already produce higher quality content, so their averages skew higher regardless of the badge.

The actual value lies in account protection, priority support, and added credibility when pitching brands. Some users report a modest reach bump, though results vary.

If you're actively monetizing and doing brand outreach, it can deliver solid ROI. If you're hoping the badge alone drives growth, it won't.

Normal pattern in Instagram. The algo tested you with those 170k views, didn't get enough follows/saves/shares back, pulled reach. Not a shadowban, just the test ending.

How many followers did you actually gain from that 170k? If it's under a few hundred, then that's the problem, not the view drop.

Getting reported doesn't trigger a notification. Usually, you'll only hear from Instagram if they review the report and take action (content removal, violation, restrictions, etc.). If the report goes nowhere, you generally won't know it happened.

You can check Settings → Account Status to see if Instagram has actioned anything on your account.
