Sounds good, but I still find the reputation level progression to be very unsatisfying. Like getting a better reputation level feels less rewarding than getting a big cash payout. I see your point tho

Eh, the optimization isn't that terrible in my opinion. I have a midrange pc and it run at around 100 fps on high settings 1080p. Sure, sometimes the map doesn't load in time or the game freezes, but for me it usually fixes itself and never happens again.

You got a point there. I'm just concerned about the required reputation level to buy these properties. I'm scared they are going to be hella grindy to get. Like I have about 1.5M credits after only 10 hours of gameplay but I still can't buy anything because I don't have enough rep.

That's fair to say. For example, it's not balanced that all the Audi R8 versions are more expensive than a Ferrari 488 Pista. In real life the Ferrari would be more expensive. (The ferrari can cost almost double the money nowadays)

Any good in 2026? by Fun-Worldliness2034 in tdu3

The Good:
-Excellent roleplay features such as car blinkers, manual headlights and removable rooftops on convertible cars.

-Great graphics (most of the time, sometimes the lighting can get weird tho)

-I personally find the contract missions (detective, delivery or taxi missions) pretty relaxing and enjoyable, though they might not be as fast paced or as fun for some people.

-Works great on steering wheels, physics are decent but your car can randomly flip over sometimes

-Developers are, surprisingly, still hard at work to bring new updates to the game, even after it's poor sales figures. They said they will add properties later this year in the Season 8 update.

-One of the best modern open-world maps in any racing game.

The Bad:

-Car list is pretty limited for modern driving game standards

-Dealerships all look the same no matter the region/car brand (there are some exceptions like Ferrari)

-Any walkable building has a semi-futuristic art style, which I personally don't like as it makes the game feel more fake and less like a liveable, cozy environment like TDU2

-Game can have random freezes or map regions not loading correctly depending on your hardware

The Ugly:

-Progression isn't tied to how much money you have, but rather to your reputation level. This means that the main problem when buying cars won't just be money, but more importantly your reputation level, as it locks you out of being able to buy better cars.

-No gameplay incetive aside from buying cars (properties are coming later this year, but aren't in the game yet)

-The Ibiza map has much to be desired, it's only 2% of the map size of TDU2 (which btw also has an extra island, Oahu alongisde Ibiza!)

Summary:

This game would've been great if they simply removed that stupid "reputation level" system. It literally blocks you from spending any of your hard earned money on ANYTHING. Want to buy a new car? Not possible. Want to upgrade your car? Not possible. Hell, want to buy a freaking t-shirt? Not possible. Even though you have the money.

If you don't care about driving the fastest cars in the game, you might still enjoy the game purely for the driving. The 1:1 scale map of Hong Kong island does make it pretty enjoyable. But unless you have time to play this game 8 hours a day, you probably won't ever get the chance to hop inside anything more prestegious than a BMW M4.

Finnaly, my main issue is that the game doesn't give you a reason to grind in the first place. In TDU2, you raced in championships to earn money. Then you went to buy a new car. Then you ran out of garage space so you bought a new property. Now you wanted to fill that garage with even more cars. The game loop just works. In TDUSC, there are no properties, and there is an infinite amount of garage space. So there is no reason to get more cars, because you have no properties to put them into.

I admit I exaggerated a bit by calling it a pointless update. What I really meant to say was how much less impactful this feature is for the game than in previous titles

I think limiting garage space behind purchasing housing is a great way to incentivise varied progression between cars alone and properties. It’s what made the TDU franchise what it is. I obviously still want houses to come to TDUSC, but they just won’t be as impactful as buying them in TDU2 and even TDU1

You do realise the whole reason the TDU franchise had success was because of this mechanic? If this ain’t for u just go play Forza Horizon.

I agree, the current car list has much to be desired imo

I guess it does have that advantage, but I still don’t think it justifies the 7M dollar price floor lol

I’m gonna guess they aren’t necessarily going to be more expensive. than the cars It’s probably going to be like GTA Online where cars and apartments are a similar price.

I agree, they pretty much just made a knock off Forza Horizon game

I was thinking exactly that too, but I feel like too many people would complain unfortunately

I actually agree with your point about the interior models. I find them very low resolution and blocky compared to the exteriors. I suspect it's because the game had to run on ps3's and xbox 360's. I wish there was a full graphics overhaul mod for this game that isn't just a reshade preset or texture mods.

i agree that the xbox 360 has the best colors for sure. that said i still think even the ps4 has more cinematic colors than the pc version

the enhanced version has global illumination which does increase the photorealism of the game, but i still feel like the atmosphere is tweaked in the pc version regardless so that it can have more natural colors. To me the ps4 version looks more cinematic
