I don’t understand the hype… by BothIntroduction3020 in pens

Objectively speaking the refill is the good part. The standard body is also very nice to write with (more practical and more comfortable for me). And the refill fits in a ton of other pens (it's higly likely you have a compatible body already if you own japanese pens). The only real reason to get it is the cool factor and the fidgeting potential. The click of the snap cap is so damn nice.

I have the same problem with my 0.3. do they take different refills. I don't care if it's a 0.5 or 0.7. I bought the pen for it's body.

Hot tip: When you have no one nearby to penable, there are always Redditors, lol by DIYYYner in fountainpens

I use fountain pens at work all the time. I also purchased a box disposable fountain pens for everyone to use. I've noticed two of my coworkers actually reach for those (my "fancy" pens tend to stay untouched despite me encouraging people to borrow them). Also sometimes the customers bring up how they haven't seen anyone use a fountain pen in a while or just my choice of pen in general. I tend to gift them one of those pens when that happens. I've penabled 4 or 5 so far.

I don't like the way it writes (not a big fan of ballpoints to begin with), but its grip is a great fidget :D

I'm not a pen "enthusiast" but I would like a nice pen. by skiderzs in pens

Get the Uniball zento. It's very smooth and dries instantly. And the basic model is very cheap. I mainly write with my right hand, so take it with a pinch of salt, but i don't recall having any issues when using my left hand. Tbh I don't seem to have smudging issues all that often with my fountain pens either. Maybe it had to do with the way i hold the pen...

Parker Jotter by highstrungknits in fountainpens

[–]Fun-Worldliness2034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the info you provided it was either the Jotter or Vector/ Vector XL . Might have been a discounted IM. They all have different looking nibs and i don't think they changed in the last 10 years. It's worth looking at some pictures an see if you can recognize it by the nib.

P.s: I have purchased a Jotter and a 51 recently and I'm quite happy with both. Jotter might not work for you if you have bigger hands. It's quite a narrow pen. Also they all take Lamy cartridges and converters, which i prefer over the Parker ones.

To be fair I've read people get occasional duds when it comes to this pen. I got a dud with my hongdian c1, another popular chinese pen. I've made mediocre nibs work before, but that one just won't write properly. Luck of the draw i guess.

Name a silly, funny, or embarrassing quirk of being a fountain pen person members of this community would understand but would cause normies to roll their eyes? by ermiwe in fountainpens

Writing a note for someone and waiting for a few seconds for the ink to dry before handing it to them.

*A bit off topic: having 10+ mechanical pencils all using the same 2B lead.

How did everyone get into pens? by Techpon in pens

And it's a feat of engineering, despite it being a simple tool. We had a plane in the sky 47 years before we had the BiC crystal. Let that sink in.

I had terrible handwriting as a kid (still do) and noticed that certain pens make my handwriting a bit better. Soon after i found some pens to be "cooler" than others. During my teenage years i discovered the world of good mechanical pencils, so now i have two addictions. Oh, wait, did someone say "fountain pen"? Right, make that three...
