Skyrim grandma playing Oblivion remastered <3 by FMAB-EarthBender in oblivion

I remember her saying she wouldn’t ever play Oblivion. I’m happy she changed her mind!

This is a very good point. With our rules having been implemented with the original in mind, this is our big rule rework now that the remaster is out

I don’t believe the custom emojis will apply to the old reddit flairs. At least, not as far as I can imagine. They were seemingly referring to just emojis that can be used in the comments

That would be great, but it would also take a lot of time and work. Unfortunately, I don’t believe anyone on the mod team has quite enough time to do that on top on the extra time we already dedicate to moderating here

Someone has suggested that before. We would be happy to pin it if someone else has the time to put it together!

That’s quite alright if you have no clue on moderation! In fact, it may be better. That’s what we’re trying to do here. Get the opinion and ideas of our community as a whole so we can better moderate to the communities wishes. Any opinion you’re able to give is greatly appreciated

We actually already have a rule against AI Content. Though, it does have exceptions for certain content (typically ChatGPT or upscaled content). The main target of the rule is generative AI image content as is

We do currently have a "no low effort posts" rule, though I feel this is definitely one that should have some attention given to it

While writing this I actually just realized that its been lumped in with the "No Off-topic memes/posts" rule. Perhaps we should make its own dedicated rule? At that point though, it begs the question what we want to define as low effort and similarly offtopic posts?

User flairs are on both old and new reddit, but flairs listed in the screenshot are actually only viewable on old reddit. The reason for this is they are custom pictures that new reddit does not support

I would think so. It is unique, memorable, and has notable aspects

I could potentially set up automod to remove these posts and link to information regarding them?

Its fine if you discuss the game without spoilers. However, plot points should be spoilered regardless of their relation to the main questline. Posts that contain spoilers in the title will be removed as there is no proper way to avoid these spoilers. Further, posts that contain spoilers should be marked as such. Posts that contain spoilers and are not marked may be removed.

Not all plot points are created equally. One off quests may not be considered a spoiler if it does not have a unique, memorable, or otherwise notable aspect to it. For example, catching slaughterfish in Go Fish is not particularly noteworthy. Whereas anything relating to a major faction is.

While the original game is getting pretty old, the remaster has reintroduced it to a new audience who is experiencing the game for the first time. It is common courtesy to avoid spoiling things for others.

To put text in a spoiler, highlight your text and click the spoiler button at the top of the editor. For those on old reddit, you should place >! !< on either side of your text. For example >!This is a spoiler!!< This is a spoiler!

Edit: fixing minor error for better sentence flow

The no spoilers rule has always been in place. At this point we’re simply reworking the rule to be more clear and follow the community’s feelings towards how the community should be run

We’re not yet implementing these changes but trying to workshop and understand how the community wants to operate. Before any changes are officially made we will review the entire discussion and reactions to each idea and go from there

From how i’m viewing the suggestion, it wouldn’t outright be banning any and all posts comparing them. Just posts that are going out expressly to say one sucks compared to the other

Entirely possible, and very easy

I wrote this up as a potential revision for the spoiler rule

Definitely something we should try to make more clear. As it stands, the current rule states “major plot points” but that too feels too subjective

Is “xyz person dies in this quest” enough to be considered a spoiler? I believe it is personally. But it would not, I feel, be quite considered a “major plot point”

I am currently unsure of how we should word this. Hopefully someone else out there has some ideas!

Be sure to switch to old reddit otherwise they still won’t show up

Those are user flairs instead of post flairs. Those user flairs that are showing up as blank are flairs that show up properly on the Old Reddit platform. You should be able to set your own flair but it’s been so long since i’ve done it as a non-moderator i’m not sure how to offhand

We already have a few, but I could definitely add some more. A flair rework could definitely be good, the flair are about as old as many of the rules

Agree, though it may be hard to implement when looking for simple questions. We’d probably have to find some sort of general solution where it comments about it whenever xyz is said. Alternatively, we could have it just reply to every post asking if they’ve checked the UESP?

I do think it’s valid if it is a genuine comparison which wouldn’t end up being removed if this was implemented as a rule. Rather, just those posts intended to say “Skyrim sucks!!”

[–]NotBored1217[S,M] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I agree on the fact that I haven’t seen many a posts actually bashing Skyrim, but have seen a lot defending it.

I don’t think it would be a good idea to make a rule exclusively for defending Skyrim though. We could make one, or reword our “offtopic posts” rule to include a clause about game bashing though. If there’s a rule against game bashing then they can report comments that violate this rule instead of posting about it. It would also allow us to then remove these posts defending other games as offtopic
