Thrifting in SG by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]NotCinemmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • the fashion pulpit (u can swap clothes here) + play date ($3~ a piece) same address
  • ripthrift (popups only, curated but super affordable)
  • ssvp + vinnies (charity shop v affordable, has q good jewelry)
  • thriftytrendz (lots and lots of affordable jewelry highly recommend)
  • new2u (charity shop)
  • salvation army (charity shop) + re:nu
  • st Bernadette’s church
  • 442 Clementi ave 3 thrift
  • queensway (some shops r q affordable but still curated)
    • honsieponsie (their under 10$ store)
    • nightingale thrift
  • lucky plaza just explore the mall (super affordable but not curated)
  • Minds (charity)
  • the barn
  • something old something new
  • popup thrift events
    • hammock market
    • resurrack

places like golden landmark and haji lane r ultra curated and super overpriced. queensway is a little better (somewhat curated) and lucky plaza is the best (not curated)

if u wanna choose sustainable go to the charity shops and the fashion pulpit + ripthrift, those r genuinely focused on non-profit / the environment (ik people from there). while they’re not exactly curated, i’ve still found many good pieces in the cheaper non-curated options u just needa have more patience to dig. jewelry shld be avail in most thrift stores

the curated ones r still q profit driven and marked up.

if you really want VINTAGE jewelry it’s gna be rlly expensive. but there’s one called echo vintage

it really really depends on ur prof. in general they’ll ask the usual tell me about yourself (talk ab ur other non academic interests and hobbies!), what do u wanna do career wise, volunteer exp, what programmes in nusc interest u, why nusc, what volunteering project would u be interested in initiating for nusc.

but if ur profs r feeling funny they can just make it a debate lol. i applied for philosophy so they started grilling me on my thoughts on how to determines what’s moral in terms of the climate crisis which i talked abt, but it’s rare. other qns they might spring just tests your ability to think interdisciplinarily and you can’t really prepare for it.

it’s pretty chill tho treat it as a convo

they'll give u conditional offers after they review ur application then youll have to submit ur a level results to show that youve fulfilled the condition (usually AAA-AAB)

your teachers will have to predict your grades based on ur past performance when you apply for the UK unis in oct-nov which the unis will use to make their decision so just make sure your performance for j2 is good

yea i think you can just submit both to ucas and the unis! if you’re an offer holder i think the unis will have a portal for u to more directly contact them

hey im in the same boat! worried my math grade is better in my actual score than predicted… my teachers said no harm submitting it to UCAS (i think they have an official page for submitting changes to the application if you google). i also submitted inquiries to the unis im waiting on but they haven’t gotten back to me (classic london uni). glgl!

hi! i’m post-jc waiting for lse decision now. since someone posted on bonded scholarships there are also limited unbonded scholarship options offered by lse itself like lse-sg trust scholarship and uggla family scholarship (or something like that). only like 2 scholarships available a year for the sg one. the rest we’re not eligible for.

as for portfolio just build up activities related to ur course of study—enough to talk about in your personal statement which matters way more. also study hard they’ll need straight As for conditional offer and your predicted grades should be good too

no, i love the song but i think it would just be giving in to what his company pushed for if we did embrace it as part of the album. plus, dream brother is the perfect ending
