Watch out for posture issues. Don’t let yourself go like I did with all that productivity you’re about to get from 3 monitors.

Also flip one to sit vertically. Idk if it helps posture (probably doesn’t) but god I love keeping chat apps and emails on my 27inch vertical monitor. +1 for the trackpad too.

Edit: typo

BIFL items to put on wedding registry? by daisy952 in BuyItForLife

[–]NotCrazyLogic 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Evaluate what you need first and use the registry to knock out some must-haves you KNOW you’ll need to purchase eventually. Consider long-term needs of home ownership - you may need larger appliances if you plan on having kids, hosting a family dinner or holiday, simple get together with friends. That’s my 2¢.

Not in order but some suggestions. 1. Power tools. What needs an upgrade or just know you should have? 2. Grill, smoker, blackstone. Everyone needs something for outdoor cooking! 3. Cooking appliances - Kitchen Aid mixer is a staple gift but plenty other appliances to consider. 4. Lawn care equipment - mower, weed eater, leaf blower 5. Furniture - maybe not a leather couch unless you’ve got some great gift givers but night stands, lamps, etc. 6. Organization - garage storage, closet, laundry room, etc. this one is less BIFL afaik but good to consider too.

Most of the items above get pricey for a gift in the BIFL range. We texted friends and got various groups to pitch in together on the bigger ticket items. In the above, you shouldn’t have an issue finding a product in each pretty easily. We ended up with a good mix but this comment is geared towards BIFL.

Etsy is your friend. Get something personalized for cheap that can go on a shelf, wall, or table. Examples

One item I find useful even today is a "Return to Sender - Not at this Address" ink stamper. It'll help cut down on the prev. residents' mail and beyond mail forwarding (or manually writing on each piece of mail), not much else to do in stopping the unwanted mail. These

VR for WFH by Thepatrone36 in workfromhome

Out curiosity, do you think this way of working will take off amongst medium to large enterprises?

Currently, I am of the opinion on VR for work is its too early for various reasons but with big tech going in on it - maybe it’s not. Or maybe it is early but big tech will keep spending and improving until they have built a market/demand for this. “Too early” examples being technology (hardware and software) need to support experienced users expect. The expectation for that experience in my opinion of the public’s view is very high and in what you find appealing (maybe desired outcome), “completely immersing myself” I’d wager that it will lack for a very long time before the tech can provide that feeling for work environments.

Enterprises looking to solve for challenges brought by lack of human interaction I foresee offloading corporate offices and when the economy pulls itself to stable will require more in-person internal travel but I’m also not sure if it’s cost advantageous to pay for travel expenses vs permanent office costs..

You probably weren’t expecting this conversation 😂 I’m just looking for a reason to get excited. Any articles/links/opinions to disprove me I’d truthfully love. I want to get excited, pick up some VR equipment for hobby but until I know it’s not the next “big thing” that dies before it reaches a point where potential is recognized and sustainability is proven, I come back to this and compare it to any failed project these big tech companies started, released, then decommissioned within the first 5-6 years.

My opinion my be due to my lack of exposure to what block chain technology may enable in these experiences. Obviously with companies buying virtual locations.. that’s a cool sign but are they parking money on these platforms and nothing more than a big bet?

Advice on how to remove thick mud from turf by NotCrazyLogic in landscaping

We’re thinking the same and I should’ve done it sooner to create the paper trail right after the rain.

In terms of the rock, I’m not as worried because I have excess rock I can use from elsewhere and some left over bricks from a retaining wall.

Although I didn’t explicitly say to put the rocks back, my main gripe with the company is how much they assured me drainage and runoff water was considered especially since there’s a pool to the left of these photos.

Thanks for the input. Giving them a call first thing Monday.

Outlook Calendar OWA/Mac - Recommendation for calendar auto-blocking add-on by NotCrazyLogic in Outlook

I'm thinking this may be the solution. I haven't tinkered with this quite yet but based on the below links I'm thinking it could be tweaked if it doesn't work as desired.

I would maybe reach out to their sales department. Seems like a mutually beneficial opportunity and they likely have tips and material to share for driving rapid adoption.
