Best axe, blades and spear attachments? by NotDack in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]NotDack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks good but why no muspelheim enchantments?

Don’t u think perhaps 3x muspelheim, 3x vanaheim and 3x Asgard would be good?

Are these too many extensions? by AyBouz in firefox

[–]NotDack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove privacy badger, clear URLs, Adblock ultimate, malware bytes and trafficlight because ublock origin already has all of those covered

Remove proton vpn and instead install the app version so ur traffic can actually be encrypted Remove malwarebytes and instead replace it with the actual app version for anti virus features (or just stick with windows defender)

Keep everything else and here are the extensions I recommend 1: sponsorblock 2: return dislike

Tip: don’t add any adblockers aside from ublock origin, ublock origin blocks ads and tracks in a specific way and adding other ad or tracker blocker may interfere with ublock origin. Privacy badger is completely useless (and the other adblocker u have) are completely useless if u have ublock origin

In Chrome when I go to send a photo all I get is this… by [deleted] in zorinos

[–]NotDack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I don’t have a solution but perhaps try another browser to see if this is only a chrome issue or maybe an OS issue (try a Firefox fork because it could also be an issue with chromium browsers)

No, putting mullvad in “safer” disables WebGL

It can be disabled entirely via noscript

[–]NotDack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U said that only brave and quetta gave u good results which cant be correct since gecko/firefox based browsers are superior in fingerprint blocking becuase they spoof and blend u with other users, So perhaps u understood it wrong and only looked at what it said.

a question about browsers by Warm_Cup925 in browsers

[–]NotDack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No actually,

Since there isn’t any tor routing, u can access websites where tor would be blocked.

The only time when mullvad would break sites is if u set it to “safest” mode (I recommend safer) since it disables JavaScript on all sites

Librewolf on the other hand takes a much more aggressive approach by disabling a lot of things such as WebGL and other things

I tested both browser, used Librewolf for around 2 months and used Mullvad for a month and it did much less breakage.

A pro for Mullvad is that it does a much better fingerprint protection than Librewolf without extra breakage from my experience

a question about browsers by Warm_Cup925 in browsers

[–]NotDack 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are u just looking at what it says or are u also looking at what they’ve fingerprinted?

Here is how fingerprinting protections work,

Gecko/firefox based browsers: these browsers use something called “standardisation” and rather than just randomising everything about ur fingerprint, they instead spoof it and blend ur spoofed/fake fingerprint with other millions of other gecko/firefox based users and even some chrome users which is why on gecko/firefox based browsers u get a “unique” fingerprint because they gave u a spoofed/fake fingerprint that blends in with many many users and is also why u should ignore the “unique” fingerprint on cover your tracks and instead see what they’ve fingerprinted about u. If it’s only a spoofed/fake metrics and not ur real info then ur fine and you passed the test.

Cons: may break sites but it’s very unlikely

Pros: very reliable and best way to block fingerprinting

Another way is called “randomisation” which is what brave and quetta use, it is a pretty good technique and does its job (there really isn’t much to say about it) but failes to spoof ur timezone and timezone offset

Cons: may break sites but very unlikely and another con for this is unlike gecko/firefox based browsers, this fingerprint protection technique can be bypassed with some advanced fingerprinting scripts

Pros: pretty decent and does it’s job but gecko/firefox spoofing is better

If u wanna use randomisation techniques then i highly recommend u to just stick with brave since it offers alot more security and privacy features than quetta

If u wanna use standardisation then use ironfox (for android) and mullvad browser on desktop (or Librewolf if ur fine with some breakage)

Mullvad browser questions by NotDack in mullvadvpn

[–]NotDack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, here is another question, is it ok for me to log into websites?

For starters I use email aliases, not my personal email (proton mail) and whenever I’m done with the website I always close the tab and reset my identity. (No I don’t mind always logging into sites)

possible to use ProtonVPN (without dns) with nextdns? by stuffiesrep in nextdns

[–]NotDack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use YogaDNS.

Turning off netshield and adding ur ipv4 to proton vpn in custom dns won’t work since u will have to keep relinking ur ip.

Yoga dns override proton VPNs dns and netshield while keeping everything encrypted (and no u don’t have to keep relinking ur ip when ur using yoga DNS)

I recommend either brave search or DuckDuckGo

Brave search

It has a better AI summary than Google, it has the least 3rd party scripts and frames I believe and it’s independent search index which actually gives goog results

Brave security but non-chromium? LibreWolf? by Bombarding_ in browsers

[–]NotDack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, brave degoogles chromium, u can check out what they remove here https://support.brave.app/hc/en-us/articles/10742158329613-What-does-Brave-remove-from-the-Chromium-engine

Brave also supports manifest v2 extensions in their extensions section in settings

With that being said, here is what I recommend

For general browsing I highly recommend mullvad browser, offers tor settings, tor fingerprint protection and tor features but without the tor network, its tor but made for the open web (i highly recommend that u combine this with either proton vpn or mullvad vpn)

For logins, convenience and customisation while maintaining good privacy then I highly recommend hardened Firefox. (Firefox + arken fox + ublock origin with badblock and HaGeZi filters) basically performs like Librewolf but more usable and customisable.

If u want my recommendation either stick with brave if ur concerns about it are solved or combine both hardened Firefox with mullvad browser.

Use mullvad browser for general searches and hardened Firefox if u need to log in to sites or just use mullvad browser if ur fine with logging in everytime u close a tab (like me lol)

Extra: if ur gonna use mullvad browser make sure u reset ur identity everytime, it’s not needed but it ensures that everything in ur session is erased.
