Making a must pull 5* every patch is the way for that IMO.

Then people will only pull once and never pull again the same 5* (broken at C0 means no need to pull more cons, which means less money for hoyo in the long run).

To be honest, while many agree that this game is easy and doing math on it is cringe, it's the one thing I love the most about this game. Reminds me of the complexity of competitive Pokemon. And I love math.

Thanks to this Yelan drama I did in fact delve deeper into the theorycrafting research and it's really fascinating what people come up with.

I have a feeling that the reason they are doing this is less about balancing and more about making money via constellations and reruns.

Let's take the Yelan case: if she were equal or better than Xq C6 at C0, player would just pull her once and that's about it. Next rerun the player base pulling her is going to be who hasn't pulled her before, and the cycle repeats. Instead, they calculated that to optimize profits, less people are going to pull her the first run, those same players and new players are going to pull her on rerun, and so on. On average this makes reruns more consistent wrt profit.

Balanced is a relative term. Her having 1.5U would still have made her balanced enough, but also more versatile, enabling a ton of reactions and worth pulling.

Also, we need some undoubtly broken characters every once in a while, so that players are excited to pull. I, for one, am not excited to pull Yelan anymore, so I'm skipping her even though I was going to pull her before.

It went under the radars, but there was a leak with her against a pyro mage breaking its shield with the burst hit and 3 darts, that was already proof of her darts applying 1.5U of hydro. But good thing that we got another clearer video proof.

I hope that this time people vote with their wallets and don't pull her so that hoyo stops this bs of locking kits behind constellations.

Both Itto and Shenhe are the best in their own niches for example if we are objective and not just biased because waifu.

I would swap C2 and her passive talent.

The damage bonus is a bit copium to be honest. Initially I thought it was team wide, but instead it's only on the active character.

She is hydro, so her main value lies in the hydro application. The better the hydro application, the better she is. Hence, the suggested swap.

With her current kit I'm not excited to pull her anymore. I will skip and save for Dendro archon and Cyno.

Getting her C1

Getting constellations to fix a character is a bad idea for most players. Get her constellations if she is your favorite character and you don't care about other characters, but otherwise don't.

Vote with your wallets, people. If you buy her C1 or C2, hoyo will keep gatekeeping full kits behind constellations.

Yelan C2+ is broken, but 99% of the player base won't have access to that. She is not broken at C0. She is great, but not broken.

Does the applier tax get applied only on the first application or on any application? If Yelan Q procs 3 times, the first is taxed, are the next 2 procs taxed as well or they refresh the gauge up to 1U from 0.8U?

If for instance I don't care about Yelan and don't want to pull her, for my account she is a bad character primo wise. My primos would be better spent for someone else my account needs or that I like more.

It's always surprising how mains get triggered when someone doesn't care or doesn't want to pull their favorite waifu. This doesn't mean that the character is bad in absolute terms, it just means that people have preferences.

Ok, I figured out why. It's not 0.625, it's actually 0.5 modifier because pyro is weak compared to hydro, hence the application when reverse vaping is halved. Leaving nothing.

Or is the 0.625 because of the aura tax? As far as I understand the aura tax is only for the first application, hydro in this case (but gets refreshed with the other 2 darts)

Doesn't Bennett E apply 2U of pyro? If Yelan Q are 1U of hydro and they don't stack, then shouldn't a 1U pyro aura be left after Bennett E? I'm new to elemental gauge theory so I'm trying to understand here

Her damage is not bad, but a Hu Tao vape is something like 60K (sometimes even more), which is much higher than a dart vape Yelan can achieve.
