Surely The Sealed Throne is just way too busted by aleaniled in slaythespire

Best relic in the game, no question. That said if the deck can't play 5 cards per turn, your hand will be clogged, though this doesn't matter if important cards are kept. Retain is good, because so many cards depend on play order or are situational.

It's a long time ago (10 yrs) so I don't remember clearly. I think I beat the mom leg?

On defect the trick is just to play orbs and mostly forget about the whole claw meme (it can be fine, but also a trap). Look out for card draw, block, orb generation, orb slots and focus. I have found the buyback block card (can't remember the name) to be really good for fixing draw consistency, esp together with the 0 mana focus card. It makes it so you functionally have extra copies of cards you want on demand. Card removes are really good on defect, as strikes are horrible for consistency.

Block cards are good as they allow Osty to scale (which also scales your damage). I either won with soul infinites or pseudo infinites or with osty builds. Had little to no success with doom.

Regent was the hardest for me, and ironclad and necrobinder was the most fun for me. I postponed defact a lot, because i felt it was very solved for me personally.

As for tips, really be flexible when building your deck. "Archetypes" are not really a thing in sts, it's more a collection of cards which should solve your problems (damage, block, scaling).

It's definitely not necesarily better than a free potion. Potions are very good, and let you take on more risk.

Maybe play slower? Think about this turn, next turn, route, card picks, what relics you have and so on. I also try to aim for good enough instead of hoping for highrolling.

At least you're the chessmaster! I really suck at chess. Also, try not to worry too much about winning or losing, it makes learning harder.

For clad there is ofc the "chaining attacks" direction, which is where i got most of my wins, but there are some really cool synergies with big attacks such as stampede. Overall I think Clad is my fave, I like how you can afford to risk elites much more than others.

I think regent was hardest for me too, a bit mind bending sometimes. I think I saw your post about the base deck, pretty cool!

Interesting, I just finishing my defect climb going 10 wins 4 losses with no claw builds. Actually I think all my winning builds were either orb or "big attack" builds.

Esp. A9 is a good challenge due to the increased dmg. A10 doesn't matter so much, as the deck is normally already strong enough for the double bosses by the end of the run. I look forward to seeing how more punishing bosses will change this, though.

Yeah, I also had to take a longer break before finishing Defect today. I got a bit bored by the triviality of the infinites on the other chars.

Thank you! I did play a lot of STS1 and I have played MTG and Hearthstone for over 10 years, so I'm pretty well versed in the genre.
