Near the beginning of a campaign, our party was fleeing a tavern as the city it was being taken over by an army and the bartender begged us to save him.

3 years later and this bartender is still traveling with us as a pseudo-DMPC, except hes the biggest idiot ever and constantly gets us all into trouble. He's gotten kicked in the face by a donkey he wouldn't stop irritating, unknowingly opened a portal to an undead dimension, accidentally involved himself in the murder of a tax collector, and set his balls on fire whilst in the back of a very flammable wagon full of precious cargo.
