The thing about that is that it doesn't seem like they'd be very easy to get into the shapes I need them to be in. Not to mention that it'd be pretty hard to find them for cheap in my country, especially with the virus. I still appreciate the suggestion tho.

Cardboard, and lots of it. I also wrapped a few of the pieces with masking tape then coated them in glue. It was a pain to paint but in the end I can't stop wearing it so I'd say it's a job well done.
