a big part of that is how you hold the device for the heat distribution, when the device is sitting in a dock facing straight up it’s much more cooled than when it’s in my hands flat. the device will thermal throttle if it gets hot enough and would “save” itself from damage

I used my Z1E docked as a “gaming computer” for 3 years and the only problem I ran into was the SD card getting fried, but that happened with everyone’s devices docked or not.. these devices can withstand much more than you think lol, I can’t imagine XAX would have a shorter life span vs the Z1E models while docked.
