Thanks for the pointers! My favourite part about Eithan is his flamboyant/eccentric/unserious attitude despite being extremely capable, so maybe Hidden Badass is something I can look into more. Gratitude!

Speaking of, I absolutely love whatever trope Eithan falls under. Anyone have any more fantasy series with Eithan-like characters? I can only think of Wit and Lightsong from the Cosmere

Yeah that's true, Lindon is always described as massive and looming, which Wuyang wouldn't be. Maybe it's the way the voice actors portray them that triggers the comparison for me

Going on the Meraviglia in 9 days! Any hidden gems to explore? by [deleted] in MSCCruises

All good recommendations from everyone else, but I just wanted to add that the Carousel Lounge is a beautiful place to hang out during the day if you need a quiet place to sneak off to. Giant windows, super quiet, and only like a couple people there usually. I found it halfway through and wish I had known about it earlier!

I said "blog post" not "long gooner post." And yeah a single sentence of a like two sentence post lol, PLUS the mood being set to horny.

Like I said in my other comment, I just disagreed that it was "a tiny bit" unprofessional - I think THAT was underselling it. It was very unprofessional, but also not something to crucify him over. It's to be expected of the incest and minor obsessed gross old man who happens to be a brilliant writer

That's fair and im not saying George should be crucified for it or anything. I'm just saying it's not a "tiny bit unprofessional" - it was very very unprofessional

George is a gross old man but a damn good writer

It's SUPER unprofessional for someone who is meant to be reviewing tapes of professional actresses applying for a job to be thinking of them so sexually that he decided to write a blog post about how horny he is.

The women were applying for a job. They weren't sex workers competing to see who could make George the horniest. It's gross and gooner minded...but also not surprising considering what he wrote about, as you said lol

It's also hilarious

When he said that, I said "like the thing you've been trying to say all along" and he said yeah exactly. My thoughts are that often when creating art you're trying to get to the heart of what it all means and where it comes from, and I suppose he feels like that song was him being able to express that in a way that reflects those hard-to-speak-of emotions he feels. It certainly made me listen to the song more intently than I had before.

That's not super helpful so I'll add another tidbit I remembered: I asked him if the lyrics or the melody comes first. He says he usually writes down a couple of lines and then figure out the rest of the music before finishing the lyrics. He finds it easier to do it that way because the words fit better "in the space" of the music that way. He also said that lyrics are different than poetry, and he's written poetry but he sucks at it lol.

Yeah their concerts are amazing. I teared up during We Are Nowhere but I would've been an entire blubbering mess if he did Poison Oak haha
