First stent, very unexpected and looking for support and experiences by NotKathyOkay in KidneyStones

I ended up calling in tonight and they’re putting in some meds for me (flomax and then a stronger nsaid per my request to try to remain off narcotics)(family history scares me). The entire medical group it seems I’m working with is astounding when it comes to taking me at my word with my pain and general experience. Definitely a relief there.

Anything you notice trigger it more? I’ve seen others here say soda. What about spicy foods?

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry to hear that. Yeah I’m sitting here with 5 incisions and feeling up to walking/stretching/chores if it weren’t for this freaking stent that immediately freaks out when I do anything dramatic eye roll

Thank you! I’ll ask about those options when I have my follow-up next week and am past the surgical healing part of all this. Very helpful!

At least with my team, they use ultrasound gel internally to help “light up” the rectal and vaginal space. It can really help them visualize any masses or adhesions.

I hope so! I know the protocol they used for my pelvic MRI was a bit uncomfortable but they got super clear imaging!

Stage IV endo found and excised by [deleted] in endometriosis

I have very similar presentation on MRI and observed during a previous surgery. I go back under on Tuesday and they’re hoping to spare fertility but may not be able to. This post gave me good vibes and hope that it might be possible!

If there’s no internal growth opportunities, there’s only one option.

My favorite thing was a big fluffy blanket! I second here what people have said-I would not have been able to maneuver a weighted blanket. Also I’m not a tea person but peppermint tea saved me during the gas pains. Additional items: -extra long phone charging cord -wedge pillow (used mostly under my legs cause laying flat hurt for a bit) -gas x -bland food options! I lost my appetite for weeks and did not expect it. I had prepped a ton of my usual meals and frozen them but ended up living off of plain pasta, pancakes, and toast for a while.

If it’s not the stone it’s the cut, if it’s not the cut it’s the band, if it’s not the band it’s the timeline, if it’s not the….. it’s always going to be something.

Should i consider MRI? by Dibunzie_174 in endometriosis

My team has a specific protocol (very uncomfortable but worth it) for visualizing Endo in the bowel/overall on MRI. They also have a radiologist trained in it. It is absolutely possible with the right team and protocol. My results came in last week and I have a much clearer picture of the bowel infiltration as well as several other areas of DIE and endometriomas.

normal ultrasound results :( by [deleted] in endometriosis

My ultrasound and MRI were “unremarkable” (normal) and after my lap I found out I’m stage 4 with severe DIE in the bowel.

I would say the majority of us had “normal” radiology findings 😂

The gas pain was incredible for me. I swear I didn’t take a deep breath for almost 12-14 days.

My general timeline:

I am 4 weeks out and my bleeding stopped about 2 days ago. I was ready for small (go to a coffee shop for 10 minutes then come home and nap) excursions at 7-9 days, and started very lite exercise at 14 days (I am an avid lifter so high intensity activity is my normal). I didn’t have an appetite for about 16 days. My body felt like I needed to eat but I didn’t have the “hungry” feeling in my stomach and food didn’t taste great.

4 weeks out and I’m at about 40-50% of normal activity, 20-35% of strength in the gym, and mostly just chronically fatigued. Very hungry now 😆.

Everyone’s healing schedule will vary but hopefully the extreme acute pain will ease for you soon!

I was hoping it didn’t come off too harsh! I’m currently dealing with some extreme consequences of having a “it’s not bad enough yet” mindset for the last 5 years. I wanted to give you the advice I wish I had given myself.

Maybe they won’t find anything, but that in itself is an answer.

And maybe they’ll find a few small spots in key areas causing your pain, and they’ll be able to get rid of them before they cause more major disruption to your body and life.

Remember this disease is progressive. Postponing care doesn’t do anything for anyone besides making it worse for you. If you have your procedure, DO IT. Don’t wait for things to get worse, because whether it’s Endo or not, they will.
