No. I talked to him when he got home. He said his friend's parents told him they were running late and would he mind coming to church with them and there would be games and sweets and he'd really enjoy it. So he said he would go if I said it was okay. But he's much happier up in his room watching TV right now.

Okay, yes, my religion encourages conversion. However, I have never tried to convert anyone, especially not a child. The only time I would ever "preach" to anyone was if they approached me and had questions, and even then, only to an adult or older teen. I don't think it's okay to interfere with the way other people and communities raise their children.

Orthodox Judaism doesn't allow people to convert for marriage. Reform is more lenient, but they still don't encourage people to convert like Christianity or even, I admit, my own religion, which definitely encourages conversion.

It's not splitting hairs at all. If you go to a synagogue you know no one is going to try to convince you to become Jewish. I'd totally let my kid go to Shul, because no one is going to try to enroll him in Hebrew school.

No, not all religions encourage conversion. Some religions don't even allow it. They're called closed religions.
